For the first time in ages I want to ride, the temp is around 20c and the sun is beating down, winds died away to nothing and there are bikes everywhere. Pity I'm in Vienna and the bikes are at home in Wales where I believe its cold, wet and windy. |

Yup , that sounds like home My son in law did suggest I bring a bike over and leave it here, a few years ago I might have been tempted but we live in Vienna and the traffic here frightens the life out of me. Once further out in the country its more like home but just on the wrong side of the road. No idea what the trackday scene is like over here either, most of the two wheelers I see are scooters and cruisers, sports bikes are pretty rare tbh. |

My Mrs asked me today which bike I'd just taxed and why didn't I get rid of the other one to " free up some space" She was a little bit miffed when I said if either went it'd be the Tuono I'd just taxed This was followed by " Ah,you'd give up bikes then? " I was shocked, I had to tell her I'd just unsorn the Mille and get more use out of that I do feel a pull to the aged, old matron ......that's the Mille ,not the Mrs They're both keepers The Gen2 Tuono I've never really gelled with although I do think it's a far better looking bike,it just doesn't give the same level of involvement that the ancient Mille does Decisions, decisions |

I'll almost certainly sell the T at some time Mark, probably in the near future, but there's no way I'd bother going the 1060 path now,if I needed more power (which I don't) I'd buy a V4 instead. I've come to realise there's no point in flogging archaic technology when you can get much more as standard from something more modern and reliable. I think if I was tempted to do something like that now I'd rather build an updated old Brit bike like the Triton I always promised myself, but I can't see me spending that sort of time on bikes in the future tbh I don't know how many more trackdays I'll do but I'm certainly planning on keeping the Mille as something to play with as it owes me nothing, and as it's already faster than I am it's not really worth spending money on more power. Suspension maybe, but more power no

Ahhh, just been out for an afternoon's adventure in the sunshine on the Tuono I realise I have really missed riding and I feel much better for fouling the atmosphere with the exhaust from a tank full of premium fuel |

Just a jolly out to the Ponderosa via Bylchai and back thru Betws y coed and Llanwrst Cwp. It was a good ride though, blew all the cobwebs away by the time I got back. One thing I did notice on the out leg that I meant to check on the way back but didn't due to taking a different route, was a set of yellow cameras high up on the side of the road just past the church at the Bylchai junction, on the left hand side heading towards the moors. They looked like modern elapsed time type to me but there was no warning signs and as I turned off towards Cerrig I don't know if there are any more on the Moors road proper. Ponderosa was like geriatrics day out,I felt like a teenager There was a fantastic Triton,it really was good (still dripped oil though),a 750 Commando,Arial Arrow, brace of BSA twins and some other oldies to admire. That was my first ride since about Oct I think and it was long overdue. Just a pity I went onto reserve once out of Ruthin on the way back and had to keep the revs down as I didn't want to run dry in the middle of nowhere. Made it to Betws ok though with no drama

Cameras don't show on current Google maps but I highlighted the approx position should anyone choose to go that way to A&D for example or perhaps run the Evo triangle |

they've put cameras up on the triangle from what I've heard that measure average speed as they got on cat and fiddle . Wouldn't surprise me if they're all round that area given roads up there are biking mecca. Although the reason they put them up on triangle was due to boy racers etc in they're evos and similar thraping it around there. Pop in for cuppa if you venture the 70 miles south

Always the way,it got very cool and misty today and you can feel it getting more wintry. Hopefully it'll stay dry during the days as I fancy getting out again before I get back into holiday mode. Cwp, the elapsed time cameras shouldn't be too much of an issue for me as I've always tried to stick to the posted limits ( ish ) The route I ride out of Abergele doesn't need more,I find running at 60 to be ample on these kind of roads, and even that's too fast for comfort if I'm not totally relaxed and in the zone The Tuono just doesn't give the same feeling of security as the Mille, plus I find it almost impossible to move my body weight around with the seating posn and high, wide bars. I did think about lower, straighter bars and rear sets but now decided I'm not spending any money on it that I don't need too. Any news on your bike?

no news on bike yet, Not asked as I know Griff is flat out. Rearsets and the renthal ultra low bars made a difference on mine. I must admit I'm looking forward to getting back on bike and like you I tend to stick loosely to speed limits lol. I'm starting to lose weight so I should be able to get into my jacket again but have been thinking about textile jacket and maybe upgrade to one piece not sure yet. I'm limited to how far I can go due to my caring role with mum and having my son but any time I get out is a release and relaxing

I wish I was losing weight, still I suppose every pound I gain slows me down a bit so it could be looked upon as a safety feature. I've not worn that for 3 years now so it would be interesting to know if it still fits, I usually wear the leather pants from my old two piece suit and a textile jacket when I ride the T. I can still just about get into the matching suit top but it involves breathing in while I do up the zip Doesn't look as if I'm going to get a lot of use out of the T this year either as I seem to be spending more and more of my time at my daughter's place. My youngest daughter said yesterday that I'll be having the tax and immigration people on my case soon as I don't stay here long enough to be a resident

Just an update about the new cameras on the Evo Triangle. I went out to the Ponderosa again for a coffee and paid a bit more attention to the cameras, there are now camera warnings up and there are two posts now,one has a pair of cameras so looking both directions and another pole which has two objects looking towards to the triangle ? Infra red ? Anyway,I had a nice involving ride out,a bit nippy on the fingertips but otherwise all good. I was playing about with a different camera mount and have just tried editing it using Premiere Pro but it seems to have degraded the quality somewhat, plus I'm still experimenting with camera settings Just compiling atm,may put a short clip up on Youtube when it's done

We've had infrared cameras in Norwich for 3years or so now. All of them are front facing so bike friendly with the exception of two which can get you both ways. Not sure if yours in Wales are same but thse are called Truvello cameras and send pics digitally so no film required.

glad you had a nice ride Ian. Bloody cameras spoiling a good road up there but was only a matter of time due to reports of the souped up cars thraping it around there

Bloody boy racers ruining things for us law abiding bikers eh? As of yet there are no cameras on the Brennig leg to Cerrig but everytime I use that road I always see several Police cars and bikes coming the other way,and although I've not seen any parked up there are dozens of places they could wait in ambush should they decide it's worth it. For me the road is ruined anyway since they felled all the trees and opened up the views of the bends, that was always part of the fun before as it was like riding a ribbon through the trees. I've never enjoyed the full run down to Pentrefoelas anyway as it was all too easy to be tempted into really silly speeds and some of the corners have a shine like a snooker ball |
