Welcome to rsvr.net!

If you're novice you should be fine with whatever tyres are on the bike now. You could ride touring tyres right into the top of inters without too much fuss I reckon.

What's tatty about your bike?

Isn't castle coombe like a go cart track or something? I'd say go for something quick to turn like supercorsas. If your not good with setting tyre temps then i'd say go for something less pressure sensitive like pilot powers or conti slicks

Hello,

Have you already been on track?
If you're a beginner I would recommend some sport/-touring tyre, the hotter the weather the more sporty the tyre.->You don't need heaters and it doesn't matter so much if they get "cold again".
ContiTrack's are very good "starter slicks" because they aren't as sensitive as others-> hot pressure +-0,2/0,3bar and if they get a bit colder (till around 55/60°C) aren't so critical in the beginning. At least on a bit more curvy tracks like Ledenon or Anneu du Rhin (Hockenheim GP no problem, too).
Another Plus: they last quite long even if the temperature gets hotter. Had them in soft/medium (f/r) and 190/60^^

Hi  I rode coombe a few times last year on my rsv and used michellin pilot power 2ct as they are what I use on the road. I am a novice and found them  ok. But to be honest I feel more confident with sticky tyres. I used metzeler racetec rr 's previously on my zx7r I just felt that I could push it more without worrying.
I am clearly not good enough to do the pilots justice but really for me it's about being confident with the bike and thats what makes me faster. I Will be running metzelers this year unless someone can say they really don't suit the rsv.

I can't recommend Michelin Power RS enough for novice level track riding. No tire warmers needed, and loads of grip.

Some might disagree but I think you can ride more or less any tyres without warmers. There's a bigger risk of getting bad wear/tearing on the tyres than there is of you coming off them. Tried it with Supercorsas and compk slicks.

Ok in first corner and decent confidence midway through first lap. Problem is if you start to push on as soon as you have the grip, the carcass won't be fully warmed through and you'll get tearing. But I found the grip came in faster than it did on sports touring. Stands to reason too as they are softer compound.
