A question for abba stand users. I 've paddock stands and am happy with them for most of the work I do on my Gen 2 rsv. However this winter I'm going to strip and inspect the dog bone and my paddock stand won't do. I'm going to make my own abba type stand and just need to know how high to set the pins on the stand so that the back wheel is off of the ground when the stand is engaged ? And roughly how long and what angle the support legs are coming off of the stand ? Any help would be much appreciated.

which stand are you looking for dimentions? there are several different types. there are sky lifts and a superbike stand. Both excellent bits of kit, the crucial part is the fittings for the bike, if the bike falls over or scratches the frame , its going to cost a lot for repair.... |

There are a few ABBA stands on ebay at the moment at about half new price - is it really worth making your own?

If you have fixed foot pegs fitted axle stands under them work fine.

Thanks, I'll have a look, but I actually enjoy making stuff so it's not all about the cost of a new one .

using car axle stands ,one on each foot rest for support on rigid foot rests (i did once at a race meeting switch the left footrest for the right so i could use axle stands on non rigid rear sets) or this. fairly easy, you'd have to remove the fairing and exhaust on the rsv though. |
