Getting the bike ready for summer. I've actually had a set of these sat in my tool box for about 8 years but never bothered to swap them out. Mainly because I haven't been able to get one of them out. As you look at the bottom of the tank the right one never wants to come out as this is the water one.
Any road, cut a long story short, cut it off (with the tank off and not with the tank on as in this pic) Drill out the coupler with a 6mm drill. The hole down the centre of the coupler will centre the drill bit. The thread is M7x1. So just run an M7 tap down inside. Drill out your new couplers so the holes are bigger. Get them anodised so they will never corrode again and stick some new o-rings on them. Stick a load of copper slip on the threads and stick them back in. Never every have to worry about them corroding up again. I buy these. They are chain saw fuel filters and I get 12 of them from China for around £3 including postage. They are as good as any named brand. I stick them on the end of the breather pipes. They stop the breather pipes from getting clogged up with dirt. When they get dirty just swap them out for a new one and clean the old one off in petrol to reuse again. I think they also look good as well. |
