So with winter well and truly upon us and having no intension of riding in the salt I decided to give the bike a deep clean and get some jobs done.

First things first was the fork seals, the left fork has been leaking for some time, in turn this had contaminated the brake pads. With fork oil and pads on order, a perfect opportunity to strip, clean and replace the caliper seals.

Just look at the state of them! Absolutely covered in filth. To think my pads are also this bad is scary!!

Whilst waiting for parts I figured a removal of the exhaust and a little polish was in order.
Who doesn't like a little bit of stainless bling after all.

So what's left to do I hear you ask....

Re-fit the exhaust with new gaskets and nuts, mine has no exhaust gaskets for some reason.

The rear shock linkage needs a strip down and re-grease.

The wheels are off and stripped to be cleaned.

My HEL lines are ready to be fitted once the forks are back together and on the bike.

I'm waiting for my rear shock to come back from JHS racing, it's currently with them being serviced and having a new weight related spring fitted (if anyone is looking for a good service I can highly recommend these guys)

I've ordered a full service kit including new valve gaskets, both front and rear are leaking on mine.
Whilst they're being replaced I'll check the valve gaps.

Oh and I've also got the slip ons stripped ready to be re-packed.

I can't wait to get back out on the bike, I'm hoping all my hard work will have a noticeable difference to its ride and feel.

As I'm going along I'll add some more pictures if anyone is interested.

As a little project, cleaning and maintaining the bike is part of the fun for me, it also helps knowing the bike inside out and I can be happy that everything is done properly and to he best of my ability.

What did you use to polish it? I've got a collector coming from Mark and might as well get it cleaned before I fit it.

I bought a bench grinder and a conversion kit from these guys.

Can't fault it, other than polishing the collector, that was a pain in the a$£e!!! I just didn't have the space to do it.
The exhaust came up real well though.

Good work so far.
Had my rear shock overhauled by JHS and a re-spring for my weight. Ended up with a bag of bits they replaced. Collected in person as there is always some interesting kit in the workshop to drool over, the girls in the office are very helpful too.

Cheers

Absolutely, I can't fault the customer service so far.
How much of a difference did it make to the ride? I'm not expecting miracles.

I don't ride to the full potential of the bike but there is a noticeable difference. Did a full bush and bearing replacement of front and rear at the same time, that may have helped.

It's a pity the Aprilia headers don't stay shiny for longer unless you polish them every week, which is difficult once they're back on the bike. Before you know if they're dull again...main reason I went the ceramic coating route.
People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

Cheers Grumpy, that's nice to know after what it's about to cost.

Tell me about it, I know doing it is basically a waste of time but it's something I enjoy doing for some bizzare reason.

Finally got the calipers all finished ready to go back on, I'm really happy with the finish.

Before.

And after with new SBS pads.

Itching to get the suspension back now.
