Although the 'book quotes 120NM for a Gen 1 rear wheel axle nut, I'm sure I've read that this is too high and 100NM is recommended. Can anyone confirm this please?

I think 90 - 100 seems to be the consensus. I'm sure there was some mention of an update to the Aprilia recommendation due to damage to wheel bearings using 120?

It was 120 nm...
I recall Griff posting that this should be reduced to 100 nm as the rear wheel bearing spacer suffered.... |

I'll remember that figure next time I mess with the wheel. I usually just tighten by feel, if it feels right then it's good.

Yep, 100 NM rear, 80 NM front always on mine no bother so far . Plus I always check my T/Wrench regular on calibrated gauge at work as once I snapped some bolts (MGB head bolts ) where it was miles out . Not the one I use now ,.
