Bike is not running right. It’s an 08 factory. Does have pc5. It has new battery, charging system seems fine. New tip over switch, side stand switch, oil pressure switch, short oil filter with flatter cover and oil change with 15/50 oil. New crank sensor.

Starts and ticks over fine.
Anything over 3000rpm runs fine pulls nice.
Anything between tick over 3000rpm it’s a bag of spanner’s. Seems like it’s only firing on one cylinder, coughs, backfires won’t rev out.

Has permanent red triangle of death but that’s it. No EFI warnings or anything else. Did the 15 second thing on the flash switch only showing the number 0

Any ideas? Thank you

Hi mate. If it was fuel related you would expect it to play up at the higher rev range too. What condition are the plugs in?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Remove the PC. Sometimes it is to blame, and it is easy to check.

Check vac pipes on map sensor (left side of air box). If they pop off or split it upsets the fuelling up to 3k ish.

I had the exact same symptom on my RSVR

It was something as simple as bas fuel  - has it been sat for a while  - if so Dump the fuel ( only good for running in a lawn mower )  and get some fresh in there .

it worked for me when these things back fire it is like a Howitzer going off .

This is where I'd be starting.
The two thin ones.

Changed the plugs and tried to start it. It runs like a bag of spanners. Couldn’t keep it going. I think whatever happened, happened when it was hot because I can’t get it going at all.

Will check the vac pipes and then try the pc5. Let you know how it goes.

Surely the pc5 was the easiest to disconnect first?

Would you believe it. It’s the friggin stator starting to burn out and shorting to earth.

Can’t complain I suppose though, I rewound it after it last burnt out 8 years ago and it managed 22000 miles with my compufire mod.

I’ve bitten the bullet now and ordered the Aprilia replacement. I suppose I saved some money as it’s half the price now as it was back then. Got to be the only thing that didn’t go up with inflation 🙂

Bloody bike
