Hi,
Sorry if this has been already covered but does a Gen 2 side stand bracket fit on a Gen 1. I've studied pictures of the 2 brackets and even though the bracket are different in shape, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't. It looks as if the bolt holes line up and the difference in shape doesn't look that it would be a problem fitting. Thanks |

It might but the frame is different so it might not. Try it and let everyone know. Is the Gen2 bracket a three bolt fixing? If so, it probably won't fit early Gen1s as they don't take the US three bolt fixing - at least not without modding either the stand or the frame - due to a frame lug being in the way,.

Both brackets are the 2 hole version. I've only got a photo of the gen 2 bracket to work from. Just want to see if it fits before I spend money on one.

I wouldn't waste your time as the UK stands are a liability anyway. Get yourself a US version of the Aprilia stand and you will stress less when you leave it anywhere on the sidestand.

it's a gen 2 US stand I'm looking at. Don't want to spend £90+ for the stand if it doesn't fit.

Ah, got you. I'm sure if it didn't fit then you would find it easy to move on as they are hard to track down over here. To be sure though you could ask Griff as I'm sure he would have tried it at some point.

I've got a US Gen2 stand for sale.
Forgot to give it to the dealer that bought my bike The kick pin could do with a heat and straighten, maybe got bent in transit, and it could do with a freshen up. I could insert a photo, if someone could explain how? When I click on 'insert image' I get a box appears that has a preset list of images called 'baby, beach, lighthouse' and I can't see how the hell to add my own one?

Hello gents, appreciate this is super late but ...
Just taken on a gen 2 tuono (2006) - 'my god where have you been all my life?' Am absolutely, loving it ... Prev owner stuck an ugly little block (about 1cm thick) under the side stand foot and works ok. However, I want to get rid and solve the instability prob... Already seen the US and 2004/2007 blade solutions and keeping an eye out but there's an eBay auction for a gen 2 2008 factory side stand. Guy has measured it, from foot to pivot block and it's around 26cm, a few cm longer than mine. Thing is, I've seen nothing in these forums from you bright and beautiful people regarding using a later gen 2 stand as a replacement, so ... |

I think the Gen2's have pretty much the same issue as the Gen1's. Get yourself a US version of the Gen2 stand. It might be a frustrating search but it's by far the best answer

Check out the numerous threads about this on here. The key thing is that the US stand has a bracket with a different angle which puts the foot of the leg further outboard of the bikes centreline which makes it much more stable. The leg is also longer but the bracket is what makes the real difference.

Don't know if this is the bracket you need. Works out cheaper than a full stand if the bits can be swapped http://www.ebay.com/itm/272430062101 |

If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all

That's the boy. You do need the leg though as it is considerably longer and you need the additional length to give the bike the correct lean angle.
That seller does have the leg as well though but he is selling separately - Do a deal with him for both. Shipping from the states is the bugger though and you will probably get caught by customs for vat and import duty. Of course that's why any US stands for sale in the UK are expensive as they have already incurred those costs. Why Aprilia just couldn't fit that stand to UK models I don't know especially on the Gen2's. |
