ok,
I've packed the seal out with plastic rings and it still leaks.
I've fully disassembled the cap to see how it works, and my best summary is that it doesn't.
I thought that my Guzzi was marginal in the fuel cap sealing department, but Aprilia have definitely tried harder.
Are there any suitable replacements available? Are there better seals?

thanks
D

My new/ replacement gasket cutter arrived a week or two ago after my last one finally gave up on me .
Can cut you whatever thickness you need .
However 1.2mm ones normally work perfectly

I was looking at the parts diagram of the tank assembly, and I'm missing the gasket between the fuel cap assembly and the tank itself. Mr PO had fitted some flashy anodised cap screws and had removed the gasket whilst doing this.
So, I ordered this last night. This will fix one problem, the next is that the drain line is blocked at the wee fitting at the bottom of the tank. I've a full tank of fuel at the moment, so this will have to wait until I've drained it.

And the harder you ride it the less time it will take to empty it

Treat anything with coloured anodized fasteners with great caution, sometimes lack of taste and lack of common sense go hand in hand Wink
