As I'm unsure as to when the bearings in my wheels were last changed, i'm contemplating having em done.

Can anyone advise on size, type, brand, source, cost etc.? Haynes manual recommends a special Aprilia tool for removal?

Think I'm going to leave getting these done to the garage but want decent ones going in.

Unless there's anyone down south who fancies giving me a hand doing them? I am keen to get my hands dirty and do it myself, but if it goes tits up I'm a bit stuck with a bike with no wheels on!

Most bike shops will stock them, they are nothing fancy, just drop your wheel out and look on the side of the bearing for the code it will say something like 6005 for the front and 6006 for the rear and you have one in the sprocket carrier as well. Skf or a similar brand are good and are about £10.

Cheers Coops. I'm on the coast east of Brighton.
But I'm willing to come to you if you have the gear. Whichever you prefer. I'll pm you tonight if you're up for it.
I'll need to source the bits first so it wont be for a while.

Good places to try for bearings are probably your local branch of The Bearing Man,bound to be a branch on an industrial estate somewhere near you.

Bearings are bearings, soon as you mention 'bike bearings' or ask your local stealers the decimal point in the price starts moving.

Griff will see you right though Thumbs Up
