Bought a new RSV/R in September, really love the bike but do find it difficult to find neutral. Will it get better as the miles go up and everything "loosens" up ? Alan. I love V Twins

Bought my Mille in September, and yes it can be difficult to engage neutral. It seems to be loosening-up after 1,500miles or else my knack of dropping it into neutral from 2nd whilst rolling to stop works for me.

fellas ive left a reply similar in tuono tech chat also i experienced a severe clutch problem about 1200mls, whereas i couldnt engage neutral or get 1st form neutral (on start up) without revving engine. the problem was a missing pin that is located on the underside of the clutch lever, this operates a micro switch that i am led to believe holds the clutch basket together to gain neutral and assist in gear changing a simple check is to pull clutch lever in and press the micro switch it operates fully inwards, try engaiging neutral then. i had to fix my "missing" pin with a self tapper as i was mid alps when this occured. hope u get sorted

I also had problems finding neutral on my 04 when I got it and was told that it would loosen up with use. Wrong!! The problem lies with the Brembo brake system and I believe it is down to air being trapped in the master cylinder. This came to a head when returning from last years NW 200 and rode for 100 miles with a dodgy clutch and 20 miles with no clutch. A bit of character with the bike. Love it. In the end I bled the system and everything worked fine, for a while. Same problems so I went back to the dealer who eventually ordered a new revised cylinder for the brake system and so far have had no problems, except for a couple of false neutrals. There is loads of info available about ths problem and the rear brake available on other Aprilia / Mille sites. Anyway good luck and get in touch with the dealer incase you have a similar problem upgrade issue. There is also upgrades (not recall apparently) for the rear brake and a replacement swingarm. You may not require these changes but give the dealer a ring. Fair Fuel For All

Hi Mate, Just phoned up my dealer BFM at Shipley told them there were a couple of service bullitens out re Clutch and rear brake mods and upgrades and they booked me in 2 days later and returned the bike 2 days after that. I'll look up the number for you as I think It's disapeared from here since the hack. 05 Factory... lots of shiny bits... hopless wobbler in charge!

Right think this is the current info (though it may have been superceded): To cure the air bleed issue they (aprilia) swap the "L" shaped pipe between the clutch master cylinder & the reservoir to one with a wider bore... as simple as that. Service Bulliten #232005, I think. "L" shaped elbow pipe part #8133872. They were swapping master cylinders at one point to ones with part #8176193 but I think that's been knocked on the head as the little elbow pipe change does the trick. They do a similar thing to the rear brake and add an extra bajo bleeder to the rear caliper, to cure the trapped air issue with the rear brake. Hope that's of use. Mines been fine since... touch wood! [8D] 05 Factory... lots of shiny bits... hopless wobbler in charge!
