Picked up my new Factory on Saturday. Cant ride it on the road for a week so I am using the time to polish it and work out how to get it ready for track days. The rear number plate holder is held on with 3 screws 2 of these dont have captive nuts so you need to get at nuts inside the tail section which is very tight. Very fiddly and not something I look forward to doing regularly. What do others do? Bearing in mind I want to keep the standard number plate and holder for road use.

Also, has anyone found a non knuckle breaking way of taking the mirrors off and on regularly?

Might be a bit late here but I had same problem. Didn't want to keep having to take off seat habit all the time.

I bought a plate that covers the area where the tail tidy was, then inserted a rivnut in the centre so it's one screw to take on and off from under the bike.ade up a small tail tidy from something I found in the garage. Bought some small radio controlled car electrical connectors so I can unplug the wiring loom from outside the bike.

Literally takes 1 minute to remove and fit.

If your still needing help I can take pics if you like.

Cheers Murra.

That sounds like a good idea. I would appreciate photos if you have some.

For now I have simply reversed the screws with the non captive nuts, so the nuts are on the outside of the bike and easy to hold in place. Still a bit of a phaff getting at the screw heads and wiring block, so interested in your solution for my new baby.

This is the plate that's permanently screwed on with the awkward to get at nuts and bolts, I've drilled the centre and added a rivnut. Basically a large rivet with threads inside. I got the plate cheap but you could make one pretty easily, I've made something to hold the number plate from something I found in garage.

I've tried to get a photo of the connections, depending on what you are keeping on the bike. ie indicators, brake light, number plate light? Will determine what pin plug you need. I only have a brake light so it's just a small 2 pin plug with a homemade loom running Up through the subframe where the other bolt goes

Once you get it how you want it, a nice coat of hammerite or powder coated?

Remove the screw, unclip the connection and your done,

How tidy you make it is up to you, could be made very neat if you spent some time on it.
