Here you go, a 3.4Kg weight saving apprarenly:

The pound is riding high at the moment so if anyone is interested it would be a good time to buy. Remember to factor in VAT and import duty when it arrives here though.

I have seen a company in the USA before doing tanks no idea if this was the one

Maybe have a search on af1 for feedback

I’m surprised no one has commissioned the tankshop to make an alloy one

If they can do zx10 for £550 then an Rsv can’t be much more ?

How much are the carbon ones from "morepower " after import tax etc would it be better to have a UK supplier for a little more? ?

Is it that bigger deal to have some tank expansion. Not like your tank has to come off on a regular basis. A carbon tank is going to cost 1/3 the value of the average rsv and even the Kevlar lined versions are only resistant for a finite period of time.

I think there's better ways of spending your hard earned however I've had some very frustrating garage sessions trying to seat the tank and never struggled with any other bikes. All's well if your bikes running well but if you have issues and are constantly under the tank it gets really f**king annoying

The problem more power and most carbon tank builders have is getting enough takers to justify the effort and setup costs. From memory he needed 10 takers and never got half of that.
Given that rsv owners are a decreasing commodity generally not least ones prepared to splurge £1k on a tank I think the best bet is ally which has none of the mould or setup costs.

You could have a word with Garin as his brother is a fabricator and has made many bike tanks. He knows Garin’s bike so could maybe comment on viability.

Yeah I remember him needing 10 thought he'd hit the target. It's a shame as they were stunning. Like you say though these old school apes don't have the same number of owners as old Ducatis etc and when you can pick up a Gen1 R of Gen2 factory for 2.5-3.5k spending a grand on a tank is pretty serious. Still want one though Wink
