Evening, I fitted a set of updated starting circuit leads today.
Whilst in there I looked over the alarm and thoughts being the only problems I have had with bikes - have always been alarm related. As a result I traced all the wiring back to the main harness and admit alarm removal doesn’t look too difficult. 10 wires from the alarm - 7 are spliced onto existing, 3 have involved cutting the harness and taking a feed to the alarm and back to the harness. Question is - before I start pulling everything to bits - has anyone tried this and are there any unforscene problems? Cheers |

Have you noticed, car manufacturers have been fitting alarms/immobilisers for years. They are 100% reliable and the only arsey thing is the cost of the key with the chip
Motorcycle manufacturers on the other hand........................................

Not quite the same thing but I removed the Meta alarm from my old SV easily enough
As you say a hand full of identical black wires with most T'd onto the harness and just a few in circuit instead. I found it easy on the Suzook, just match up the modded wires after cutting out the alarm and all should be good. That's assuming Luigi put nice traceable colours in to match up,I would guess the alarm fitter would just cut a wire and connect to the two new ends so it should be very straight forward Hopefully |

We'll that's it removed.
Only three cuts to solder but I'll try chocolate blocks first and see if it fires up before getting the solder iron out. Only one single connection on the main harness that's now spare but fingers crossed it's just the removed alarm feed. |

M8 check your wires again. I took my meta alarm off the bike only recently. It only had two wires that stopped the bike from running. I just soldered these together. The rest of the wires were for power and making the indicators go on and that.
Its got to be something simple and the bike wiring should be colour coded. You should be able to find which wire is still broken or has been connected round the wrong way. Have cup of tea and then go back to it

Sorted - certainly helps when you refit the 2 x 30amp fuses.
All back together and it started on the button. Unreal the amount of wiring that came out with the alarm. Cheers |
