Morning All Building this Tuono and I have 2 fuel pumps to choose from but both are obviously from 98-00 metal tanked bikes as they hvae drain holes on the pump base. Am I being thick here...................I'm sure, from memory, that the later 01-03 fuel pumps were identical but had bungs over the drain holes? Pic from the workshop manual: The pic on the left is obviously from a 98-00 bike as the drain tubes are connected to the pump. You'll see that the notes say that the drains are connected to the tank on the 01-03 tank. Pic on the right shows the 2 open drain holes, bottom right of the pic, that I now need to bung up. Don't suppose anyone's got a knackered 01-03 Fuel pump that still has the rubber bungs and will part with them for a few sheckles have they? I know I could go and buy some submersible fuel pipe and cap the drain holes off but it would be easier to do it with the oem parts. Thanks in advance Jon

Update............glad I'm not being thick! Just found a pic of an 02 pump on e-bay for sale that shows the bungs that I'm after: Anyone got these knocking about? Don't want to have to spend £75 + on another pump just for the sake of these 2 bits of rubber! Jon

Are you sure about it being an '02 pump? My '02 I'm sure has the later type drain through the tank proper and the older style stubs are still cast into the body but now cast blind. I would think that any blanking cap along those lines would have pretty much degraded by Ethanol action by now on the evidence of how the short hose disintegrates in a lot of cases?

Thanks fellas, My last pic is from an e-bay listing saying it's from an 02 bike. Either way, I have 2 perfectly good fuel pumps, both from 00 RSVs so bikes with steel tanks. Maybe I'm thinking of having taken a fuel pump out of an 00 RSV-R that had a plastic tank with built in drain lines.............it's over 5 years since I delved this deep into an Aprilia! Whatever, I still need to bung up the drain holes in my pump so need the bungs from somewhere ;-)

How about just epoxy them up? Or maybe some of that epoxy metal might be better? I wouldn't trust a rubber top hat ,even with a clamp after seeing what modern fuel can do to supposedly fuel proof pipe.

There’s a pair on the pump I’ve just robbed the filter from for a bike I’m sorting, I’ll chuck them in the post to you Jon. You’ll need new clamps obviously
