Hi All,

I have been road testing my 02 RSV-R with a chip I ordered from Dr Rossi
My bike has an Akrapovic can & K&N filter.

With this chip fitted my bike seems very flat up to about 7k
then power kicks in & revs sound stupidly high like the thing is going to go bang!
I also feel a lot more vibration from the engine
It reminds me of my old GSX-R 750Confused
it feels like 8k has been replaced with 10k & so on!

I have refitted my RP58 chip and the bike has far more torque from 5k
& pulls strong all the way through the rev range
After Back to back testing I must say the standard chip is heading back to the ECU

The power feels more lazy & more like a V twin should
Any comments appriciated just to make sure I am not going completly madLOL

I have never used a Dr rossi chip so can't comment on his. I have used Other race eeproms and apart from using more fuel noticed no difference and went back to stock.

The Gabro chip gets very good reviews. Sabre has one and tinks it's the muts nuts. He also beleives a blue Rsv is cool so he could just be deluded.

Delusional
Seriously though, the Gabro chip works. Ive upgraded it to match the exhaust collector mod, it now has two maps - toggle between by connecting/disconnecting the snipped wire.

Hi sabre
When you first changed your chip
Did you notice it was less torque
And more rpm

Hi Ed. In a word. No. I found the engine to be smoother, more pull, and the flat spot "ironed" out.
Having said that I do tend to keep the engine spinning above 5k in anycase.

I will retry map 1

map 2 above 6-7k is a massive improvement over stock

i could not help thinking the power curve had been moved around a bit?

Is the TB setting something I can do?

after testing I have come to the concluson the RSV5 Mod chip thats fixed to a riser board

is the best.

I still retain low to mid range pull & its quite agressive power over 6k
also its the only chip i have tried that wants to life the front in first & second
under hard acceleration

F***** if i know whatit is or who made itConfused
But on the plus side it was free so happy daysBig smile

Update

Alain sent me a new chip
bike runs as it should do
Must have been some issue with the original chip

feels like it needs fine tuning to make it perfect
but + 1 to Dr Rossi for all his help

Running the stock RP58 for the time being until I can get arrange to have the bikes TB & CO set up,
I must say the standard chip ain't bad at all with a pipe & filter.

Whats the deal with a race chip it would appear to move the powerband down a few thousand RPM
at least thats how it feels as well as pulling stronger

Dr Rossi is a helpful chapClap

I will leave other mods alone at the moment
Bike feels plenty quick enough as it is for the road.

& my area is crawling with 5 0 at the weekendsOuch
hence my reluctance of have a legal size plate fitted
& the Akra race can is not offensive either

Not like the moto gp style pipe i see on an RSV-R the other day
that took the pissLOL

Glad Alain got you sorted ..its just he gets the fuelling spot on after a lot of research and development..

thought it was odd the bike was odd..

if you do go for mods go with an evo/hooked kit and a modded header ..you'll really notice and improvement..

All said & done

The unknown chip i was given that sits on a riser board "double stack chip"
seems to be the best
bike feels like it could do with setting up to make low end a bit cleaner
but from 5k the power is out of order!

love to know what it is?
looks like an SP titanium without the small fuse on the board
next stop evo air boxClap
