Hi all, just fitted some rearsets on my gen 2 rsvr and well pleased, plugged hydraulic switch in and tested brake light which worked fine, bled brake up and got a good pedal. Switched ignition on now no brake light from the pedal only the lever . Can anyone please tell me what might have caused this or what I’ve done wrong ? Any help would be appreciated . Cheers

Usual stuff of check connection.
Did you solder the wires to fit the switch? If not something may just be loose. Could also be as simple as there is bubbles still in the system stopping the pressure switch doing it’s thing perhaps. I’ve had them not work until fully bled before. So I’ve had what felt a good pedal but no light unless the pedal has a full depress as in stomped on. Bled again and no further issue.

As above, probably a bubble under the switch, keep pressure on the pedal and crack the switch body/banjo with a rag around it then tighten again before releasing the pedal. That's the only problem with the end on design, you can't have a bleed there right at the highest point

I have one of those hydraulic switches fail in a day, some are very cheap, another one was leaking from the wires.
Wire the brake pedal down and check with meter. Just need to check for continuity, don't even need the ignition on 👍

I had one fail on my zx9r, it had been on a few years and was getting intermittent, I’ve found some of them take more pressure than others to work as well.

I have on one the Aprilia that is five years old, but I think that was a on that comes off at 90 degrees the wires I meant.
Venhil are nearly three times the price. Here's on ebay, but I don't know what thread pitch you require. I have had two fail where the wires come out vertical.

I got mine from Griff. It's been on three years with no problems but I guess you never know when? As always with wiring, cable tie near any connections or joints to prevent movement or vibration and stressing of any connections. |

I think, in fact I am sure I got mine from Griff as well, when returning from the TT, that has a 90 degree rubber boot on it like the one above. I find the one with the wires that come straight out upwards are the ones that fail. Maybe Legend there is something in what you say, the wires are much more secure with the 90 degree ones, or we are just lucky £👍

The upright one on mine has been faultless but I must admit the wiring run doesn’t look very professional and a bit angled and tight . AP rear sets fitted .

The one I got from Griff - and also what he currently has on his website - was an upright one. It's been fine so far. See cable tie restraints below |
