Magic thanks for that, couldn't think what they were called..bloody
came off the bike last Friday on loch Lomond side, low speed though. Scraped a few left hand panels and broke the left side fairing upper so need a plastic repair. Panels packed up now and off to the painters..FFS |

I spotted what you did there (But maybe you didn't!) Hope you are ok Alex. On the fasteners, they are a right faff to remove, same on the original screen mounting etc. They certainly won't come off on their own.

you could use the plastic push rivets like on the gsxr that hold the underside of the fairing together

So quick update, I called the shop to order two of the OE fasters that hold the screen in with what I now know as star lock fasteners, should have been an easy order, top service so all normal, posted Griff a picture of what I was on about, call back a few minutes later and f me, what a cost from Aprilia the plastic rivet £7 , £2.50 rubber washer and £1.50 for the star lock washer.. factor in postage that's £24 for two plastic fasteners FFS.. not surprisingly Aprilia have them in stock, the guys on the phone were horrified at the cost Aprilia are asking,
Soo if any one has any lying around there worth more per ounce than gold and I'll have two off you..

Well the Starlocks are easy to source as are the rubber washers but I'm drawing a blank for the rivets themselves although I can't believe they'd be an Aprilia special part

Looking through the fiche it does actually look like they might be an Aprilia propriety part Unfortunately on small Aprilia orders the postage and vat often comes to far more than the cost of the part I've found. You can buy bulk rubber washers and Starlocks for only a few quid but it looks like the pins are a problem unless you wanted to make a feature out of it and use copper/alloy/stainless rivets instead?

I'll probably bite the bullet and have two of them from Aprilia just for originallity but it's really, really going to stick in my throat.. .if it wasn't so dangerous I'd get back to the scene of the off and look for the buggers..
