well the deed is done, a new bike is now installed, I still have the mille but it will be returned to std spec for sale  ( watch out for the various bits I 'll be selling v soon, full race fairings, modded collector, ti race akra , mapped PC3 57mm kit etc)
so new bike is here quick couple of pics f anyone is interested..

not a fan of the black screen so that will be changed, slight discolouration of the belly pan nr exhaust a little spotting on the tank I don't think matt paint reacts well with spilt fuel, but, at the end of the day it's cost me £5K , which I dont think is bad for a 170hp bike with marchensini wheels, full ti Akra system, brembo M4 calipers, and a couple of bits of carbon, did I mention 170BHP + BHP SmileSmileSmile
I'm an happy man tonight... That said I still really like my Mille I've spend a lot of time fettling it and it's been a fantastic biker but I guess it's time to move on, I'm hoping when it's all back to stock it will make someone a really nice bike, I've loved owning it and Id like to pass it on to someone who'll also love it..

Nice one

A lot of Aprilia boys went this way when they came out

Like a more modern Mille with some power

I still like the look of them

I look out for your for sale bits Wink

Lovely.

There's one of those in my local dealer that I look at every time I pop in, it's the only thing that has anything to drag me away from my 'R'. Aprilia really should have done something like that but I guess WSB dragged them down the V4 route and they aren't big enough to have both in their range.

yes it's the obvious choice to replace the ape, I still want a big v twin and the RC8 are still fairly good value so it made sense, I'll start returning the ape to stock and get it ready for sale around april hopefully it will find a new home quickly.

there are quite a few non Rs for sale but the prices are all over the shop, and a lot of the the early bikes on offer are early non R bikes that were left unsold in Europe and found their way over here to be registered much later eg there are quite a few 2012 registered bikes that are actually '08s. I wanted an '09/10 R  because they have the  proper Marchesini forged wheels, higher spec WP suspension, a few bits of carbon and of course the bigger engine, probably most important is the later bikes are much less likely to suffer gearbox issues. Finding a R was much more difficult there were only about 4 for sale, but I'm glad I persisted. I paid £5K for it, it's just had the shock serviced, new SBS pads, new 2CTs ( not my choice of tyre TBH so I'll probably change them but that's just me) and it as the full Akra race system which are stupid expensive. So I think £5K was reasonable and will hopefully not lose much money over the next few yrs.

Just sold my '11 r for a superduke. The r was an awesome bike very much like a Gen3 rev if Aapriliaa had made one.

whether it's beautiful or not seems to divide opinions, it's certainly interesting and difficult to ignore...

Fantastic bikes, mate has one with the full ti akra system, akra Carbon bodywork, bst’s and quickshifter. These are worth looking at and they do work.
