Been a busy boy getting my new toy sorted out ready for Cadwell park Monday coming.
Bought this from a guy in Surrey who only managed 8laps at brands hatch and highsided smashing his pelvis but the bike had very little damage thankfully but he's out of action so had to sell it on. He was an ex TT racer and aprilia owner so plenty to chat about hehe. Bike is a 1999 G2 ZX6R which was built as a university project and raced twice last year with decent results . Spec for those interested Full track fairing Kit loom total loss electrics Kit head gasket to raise compression Manual cam chain tensioner GB moto rearsets ( look identical to AP rearsets) Harris clip ons Accosato QA throttle Scorpion Race can Nissin Radial master cylinder 08 636 Nissin calipers 320mm rotors 06 C1H front end conversion with machined head stock to take the top yoke and radial forks with k tech internals 06 C1H shock Supercorsa tyres Fully lockwired and rain light 520 chain and sprockets NRC generator cover Plus more I've forgotten and tons of spares including WOWs clutch and sprockets tyre warmers etclittle nod to the forum Can't wait to see what it's like roll on Monday.

Whoa, nice toy indeed you’ve got there Mr BA hehe, I must admit that if I didn’t have such a lust and passion for the Gen1 RSV, I’d have a late 99 ZXR750RR Track Bike in garage, always loved the look and sound of them

Thanks fellas
What a day! Amazing weather, great company and my little Kwacka was spot on all day . Really surprised me how good it was and she was keeping with most even down the straights. Once I got the suspension set up it got even better and I started to get used to screaming it been 10 years since I rode a IL4 for more than a quick go on a mates whenever they let me hehehe. Roll on the next one.

Ah nice glad you had a good first day on it after getting the bike together. A lad from tdr was there the same day as you with Fastbikes mag doing a review of the latest superbikes. Funnily enough he said he was quickest on the new ZX6R than he was on the others, including the latest S1000rr and Ducati V4s. I always thought IL4s make sense on track more than they do on road. RSV you ride between about 6/7k and 10k rpm where an IL4 you can ride between 9/10k and 16k rpm so less gear changes than on the twin.

Nicely summed up there I think Although the torque is nice to have when grunting out of corners. I still remember coming out of the banked hairpin at Anglesey, on my old SV 1000s and side by side with a guy on a track prepped 'blade. You know the scene, both crouched forward and staring at each other? We both gave our bike's a big handful at the same time while still staring... And he just disappeared behind me He did come screaming past into the Rocket Complex though But I had the last laugh as he nearly outbraked himself before disappearing.

I saw a fastbikes guy getting interviewed just next to me in the pits I might even be on camera to be honest. Those bikes they were testing were on a totally different level! I can see what you mean about your mate being quicker on the 6 especially around Cadwell. I followed a Gen2 Factory for a while was fun watching him over the mountain but I could just about keep up on the straight. To be honest I would of been quicker on my ape but only because I'm used to itI think the 600 will do me just fine for this year.

I don't think there's that much in it in size Ian between the 636 and Gen 1 Mille. What do you reckon Adam? How does the ZX6 compare to your RSV for fit?

Id agree with Ian regarding the shove out of the bends but once upto 9k+ its a rocket. Size wise all bikes are big for my midget frame but its definitely a lighter than the ape and feels smaller but the factory turns faster and os narrower between your legs. Veey similar stretch to the bars.
My friends 675 which I'm planning on buying felt tiny and fitted me much better. I think the 636 would be between the old 99 kwacka and the Daytona.

Loved it .. getting close to souped up Mille times without the lean angles
back was killing me for the 2 days @ Anglesey so not loading pegs or hanging off .. brakes are not as good as the Brembo "brake before brake switch" on the R .. but did the job .. I`m way over size for the bike(fat barsteward) but it carried me well only comes alive after 4000-4500 (no exhaust valve) Have not ridden one with the valve in so do not know if it would help but fek me does it go if you keep it open. Deffo keep you posted ...
