just to let people know I have just bought 4 plugs for my mille of ebay,they are fake.contacted the seller who assured me they were real.if I don't get any joy I will name and shame!

What are the indications they are fake?

Why wait Jimbo? Report to ebay immediately, and name and shame also to avoid other forum users making the same error.

How to spot NGK fakes
Also fakes are more common on the more exotic higher priced plugs.

i got some off ebay i checked them on the ngk site they have all the right marks on them but still aint put them in yet they were £13 for 4 dont think ill risk it

That sounds too cheap for me unless someone was selling their no longer needed items. But how would you know? |

there are several give aways,quality of thread,colour of plating on the plug,missing numbers and apparently the ngk logo should be square to one of the six hexagonal flats.I have emailed ngk who suggested I post them to them.they also said if it takes a while they will supply a set to me!.Will update when I find out.

Interesting, keep us informed won't you? I bought a set of AS gloves a couple of years ago and def fake. Although I got refunded by ebay nothing was done about the seller.

I know it's wrong to generalise but I do believe you should treat quite a lot of kit bought via ebay as suspect. I try to go by the old thing about 'if it seems too good to be true' then it probably is. At least try and buy from a known business that you can contact away from ebay

I completely agree. I buy a lot on ebay but I have completely stopped buying anything from there that needs to be functional/reliable or even remotely safety related.
