I agree, I think the EVO style airbox is preferable but everyone has their own ideas. Some don't think the heat from the renegade style has any effect on the charge air but I think it will, it's a shame no-one has done any proper comparison tests but I guess it's a difficult thing to do properly. Re the intake boot, yep they are always pricey but that's because they are like hens teeth to find and can't be obtained from Aprilia any more so when one comes up you really need to jump on them.

Your never going to pressurise an airbox unless you can get the bike to go as fast as a scram jet, all you are doing is creating an uninterrupted path for a stable air flow.

That's about the going rate for these; I paid about £50 from what I can remember. Depends how badly you want it.

You're never going to get that rubber ring to seal around the tank.
There's plenty of dyno results on this forum of the Evo one and I had a standard air box run (with large boot on it) done 20mins before my new tray was dyno'd. Also mine get more pressure in as it does away with the tight corners the air has to travel around. The shape of my tray forces the air from the intakes straight into the filter. |

It would be good to see the pressure readings you got and the methodology of your testing. That's what I was getting at when I was saying some proper testing would be good. By the way, my EVO seals perfectly against my tank so it can be achieved.
