So went to start the old girl this morning but the alarm would not blip to signal it has been disabled. Key in ignition and boom alarm goes off (as expected). Not the most electrically minded so wondered.....
Where should i start?

Do you have a spare remote fob to check if its that or the alarm itself, is the light on the fob coming on when you press the button.

They all seem to have a limited life, the last one I had the internal battery failed after 2 years and it leaked over the circuit board. Only choice was to rip it out which did me a favour as it ate batteries. You could try setting it off to see if it's alive still. If it is it could be the fob. If it's no responsive it's probably deceased.

Move the bike to another place, even the end of the drive or just down the road. Mine is 'selective' where it will disarm! Moving the bike a few meters away from buildings makes a difference to mine.

Trace the wires back to the loom from the alarm unit.
Cut the wires one at time and cut the earth 2nd to last and finally the live as that will set it off. Then just have a hammer or bucket of water ready to finally kill it.
