might sound a daft question but why ? why did akrapovic go to the expense of designing these systems for a bike that wasnt raced in world superbikes ? it must have cost quite a few quid i imagine so did aprilia intend to race the gen 2 then shelve it and dragged akrapovic in for a non starting ride ?? and if this was the case what else was made by other tuning companies ?

Don't know about other racing, but the Evo 1 was a control exhaust for the Aprilia challenge, and a later version with sample plugs was the option system for the early 03 to 04my bikes, before dropping them due to noise regs and the SP range was introduced for 05my bikes and on. I have the early one on my bike, the silencers are also the same as the Edwards Rep fwiw on this system.

The Aprilia Ti cans were also only available while this early Akrapovic system was in use then also dropped.

I'm glad they made the early system as it's ace, the SP isn't a patch on it imo.

I think the gen2 was raced in the american superbikes but could be wrong. Lest we not forget aprilia was obsessed with going racing, they campaigned the gen1 in world superbikes then turned to motogp in 2003 and subsiquently went bank-rupt Confused

i know chaz davies campaigned a gen 2 in ama, and ive seen that bike up for sale a few times but aprilia must have been looking at racing the gen 2 more  for akrapovic to pour so much money into developing the evo 6 systems that were not cheap £££££££
