Clearly many are next to useless (Other than a deterrent to the opportunist):

You need something good these days to stop a thief ....you’ll slow them down but stop them probably not

Against a cordless grinder and a slitting disc pretty much any chain or lock is useless, as red says you are only really slowing down the opportunist.

The way I see it, a bike with a wee disc lock when parked out and about next to a some without anything will make someone wanting to steal something just go for the easier, quicker option of not breaking any add-on locks (touchwood). Back home is another story but thats when use of chains and ground anchors is an easy preventive seeing as theres no need to carry it around!

Yep, some of the videos going around now of the gangs in London and other big cities show unbelievable neck. Also, the lack of interest by the Police is nothing short of scandalous.

When I came across this vid, I just couldn't believe how crap they were.

A disc lock just stops someone wheeling the bike away, two or three big blokes and a van and it's just lifted into the back, taken back somewhere private and the disc lock can be removed at their leisure.
