You the man Steve, very strangely i removed the pressure switch out of our other race bike to test which didn't light up at all, that was what confused me but then yesterday my brand new ones turned up from Cyprus. Screwed one in and working perfectly thank goodness

So...you know the bike's wiring is OK, I'd put money on a dodgy pressure switch.

Have you got a small air line gauge you could pop in to make sure the pressure is in speck.

This is what i'm thinking too mate, i've ordered a couple of new censors as they are really cheap and also prone to leaking. will change it and fire it up again and let every1 know the outcome

I had something similar on mine.
I was doing a track even and the oil light started too flicker and would come on and go off at different revs, the engine sounded fine and pulled as normal. I changed the sensor and it was fine.

That would make sense Mark, if stuck open, it would reduce the oil pressure. Trouble is, you don't really want to run the motor until you know. |

Question everything.

Oil pressure relief valve could be jammed open ...quite a common issue

If you ran it long enough for the fans to go out twice I hope it's the pressure sensor or the engine's probably toast.

A new sensor is only about £10 for an Aprilia one.

Maybe a blockage somewhere in the oil system. Pickup strainer possibly?

Hi all, after a winter stood up i came to start my 2003 mille for the first time, oil pressure light was on during ignition but then stayed on during running, turned bike off and checked for leaks but nothing so started again. oil light slowly dimmed as engine got warm, plenty of oil in window after fans went out for the second time and oil light went out. Then i start blipping, low in the revs to start then progressively higher, the higher i rev it the brighter the oil pressure sensor gets.
Any ideas guys as if it were a faulty pump i'd expect it to be the other way round when revving???
