Got a few simple things planned for the RAC recovery bike. Started wit some sweet ASV levers. Fitted easy.....well apart from having to drill out the clutch lever bush to fit the pivot pin which is 7mm not 5mm as was the hole! Got some black adjusters to replace the red ones as they will clash with the orange.

That's lovely David
Was a bit disappointed when KTM announced they were stopping production, I wanted to see them develop it more. Are pink seats not an optional extra? |

I did warn you all. After a couple of hours in the garage I present for your delight:
KTM tank pad, Powerparts swing arm protectors, Oxygen sensor eliminator kit, SAS eliminator kit & beanie! Beanie had been fitted already but removed for purposes of photo. Swing arm protectors. Oxygen sensor eliminator kit, couple of bungs for the downpipes & plug in dongles. Notoriously snatchy at low revs this is supposed to cure that, bit like Map 2 on the Gen2's I guess. Both sensors came out easy! Look at the state of that shock! Shocking. Next instalment will be fitting the tank pad - when it warms up a bit & the secondary air system eliminator kit. Though to be honest I like the popping & flames on overrun so might hold that for a while! Enjoy. |

Don't despair......nearly there now. Swift KTM Powerparts tank pad fitting session this afternoon.
That just leaves the SAS eliminator kit to go. |

Quality bike there David🖒...
If I manage to get the cash together in future it'll be for one of these, a 1098/1198 or the previous gen crossplane R1... Have you got a standard exhaust on it ? |

It's got a JCE exhaust on it which is VERY LOUD. So loud I have thought about making a baffle to go in it, but maybe not ha ha.

Nooooo.... it's a safety device after all . They are epically (is that a word?🤔)loud with an aftermarket exhaust aren't they, very nice though🖒..going up in value it seems as well , certainly the ones I see for sale now aren't getting any cheaper that's for sure. |

An afternoon of tinkering to start 2018 fitting the Secondary Air System eliminator kit. Photos to follow but it went tank off...airbox off...throttle bodies off....not sure why they put them inside the airbox!.....& still couldn't get at the solenoid. Front bodywork off....air tubes off, nah. Radiator off....ha got ya. Bodywork still to go back on but job done.....nearly.

Bloody awkward, small window in side of airbox to undo the clamps.
One way valve on each head bleeds air into the exhaust - looks so simple to remove! & that's where the rest of it lives. Between top of radiator & frame/wiring loom. Out! Bit of bodywork to go back on still. |

Strangely similar, but bit more animal & comfortable. Its like Aprilia had a design team working on a v twin Gen3 then decided to go V4 so sacked them all & they all went to KTM to carry on their work. Except the stylist who was clearly taking some drugs.

Hahaha yeah I have to say it's definitely out there when it comes to the looks. I like them apart from the front end just can't force myself to like it. Everything else is bang on though who wouldn't like a rsv with more punch? |

Hi Dave. Just out of interest, the one way valve, is that the crankcase breather? Lovely bike, how does it compare to say rsv factory gen two? Have you done anything to the fueling to improve the throttle low down? |

Hi dog the one way valves are into the exhaust ports so air is bled from the airbox, via an ecu controlled solenoid. The ktm forums say it is used to help warm/clean the cat/Euro3 compliance.
I also did the oxygen sensor eliminator which is supposed to smooth the low speed surge & snatchy throttle. Not ridden since fitting but will post a report when I have. Compared to a Gen2 - I would have another Gen 2 but not at the same rime as the ktm, too similar in my view if that answers it!

Thanks for that info Dave, they are reasonably priced but I can't see them staying that way, if anything their prices are starting to climb.

Dragged myself off my manthrax sickbed to take her out for a steady spin today. Quite a transformation in the throttle, much smoother & the low speed hunting all but gone so well worth the oxygen eliminator mod. No backfiring either with the SAS removed. Now, some new tyres & dry warm road please.
