461 made I think worldwide and maybe 50 came to the UK?

As far as I remember..

They were gearing up for the Gen 2 production. Stronger rods, different oil spray bar pattern iirc, Aprilia claimed 145 at the crank, 130 at the wheel, different chip and carbon airbox, Akrapovic 2:2 if the race kit was bought with it. 57mm throttle bodies as standard (but with the green injectors from the 51mm), the radial brakes and Ohlins like the 03R and black frame and swinger, different blue anodized top yoke (different from the Haga rep one), different intake tubes.

It's kind of a mishmash of gen 1 and 2.

Think I'm forgetting something, so feel free to add (or subtract LOL) from the list

Edit: And the closer ratio gears of the 03 on obv (The NG in the engine number stands for New Gear).
Question everything.

When you get the chance, check if the motor's an RR (rather than RP), there were a few 03 R's that were "stealth Edwards" with the RR motor.

I've heard this before, Is there a confirmed difference with the Edwards motor as a believe aprilia never really said it had internal modifications in press release?

A good question and one I can't give you a definitive answer to as I have never had mine apart but the run of bikes in question were produced directly after the Eddys (iirc going by vin numbers). The Eddys of course having the RR engine with internal differences. Also you'll find an Eddy ECU, 57mm throttle bodies and air tubes.

Anybody know if Griff has torn one down?

Thanks guys.

Good to hear about Imageworks. Only had some replacement Akrapovic exhaust stickers before from them, and they were very good

Trying out flickr (the photos aren't great) ....

First things to do :

1) fit replacement graphics from Imageworks on belly pan
2) fit original indicators (this will also involve replacing the undertray)

That's great news buddy, bet you can't wait to get your hands on it Thumbs Up

Equally, we can't wait to see it ha ha LOL

If you're a premium member, you can post pics from your pc with no image hosting. Think it's only 5 or 10 quid.

The only image host I've used apart from Photobucket was Flickr, which seemed ok.

Just to check though, if you click on the big white arrow in the toolbar at the top, when replying or posting, that takes you to the full editor. Click on that and look at the toolbar again -is there a small icon with a green tree there? Click on it if you do have it, that's how to post pics from pc there. Think it's for premium members, but I could be wrong.

I think you should stick the bike under the Xmas tree to keep it warm Wink
Question everything.

I used to post up photos by copy and pasting a link from photobucket, I’ve heard this doesn’t work any more - what’s the best technique now?

It went very well and I bought it.  Big smile  Well, put a deposit down anyway. I'll be getting it delivered as soon as he's changed out his personalised reg number and had the original reassigned. 21000 miles, Aprilia titanium race can and chip (plus original), fantastic overall condition, with service history. Been wanting a black 03R for years. Just got a few little bits to do over winter to get it right up to scratch which I'm really looking forward to doing. Happy days Cool  Better book myself on the Donny trackday next July

Just a stones throw away. You Southerners do hate to travel!   LOL

He's not a Southerner. Stroud's in the Midlands (north of the M4 see).
And we love to travel.

I sold a 919 fireblade to a guy from Cardiff, arranged to pick him up from Glasgow airport, did the deal and he rode it home, was doing it in one stretch if I remember as he was pushed for time, it was throwing it down when he left too.. actually felt worried for him..

I've still got the original service book with my 2002 model though it's not fully stamped up as I get Griff to service it and have never bothered to get it stamped. I've also got both original manuals, one that has an English part and the one that's all foreign but then I've had it from new.

Yep, been there, done that.
Flew easy jet up to Edingburgh in my leathers, checked the bike over, handed over the cash, called the insurance company and rode it home in the wet.
