Bit early, but the T's now SORN'd and I've already got her in a few bits.
Firstly, removed the swing arm, mainly to check out the bearings. The left side needle roller is OK but I reckon I caught it just right as there wasn't a great deal of grease in there. The rolling bearings on the right side however were well packed with moly, so no worries there.
Will also re grease the other suspension bearings while they're on the bench. The exhaust is going to Camcoat for a ceramic coat in satin black and the wheels and some other bits are going to be resprayed. Still deciding whether to take out the fuel pump to check it over, I may just take the tank into work and check it out with an endoprobe to see what it's like.

With the fuel pump, you won't see the tea bag strainer without taking the pump out as is lives under the pump base.
Clean the tea bag and change the canister filter and have peace of mind it's all done.

I would wrap the rear header as well while it is off, I do and you can hold the rear header while the engine is running.

Yes, my rear header was wrapped prior to the Camcoat treatment, thinking of refitting it. Cost was £230 incl p&p.

Fork bottoms re sprayed; they were looking pretty crap, well chipped.
When I rubbed them down I found one layer of paint and no primer... Got hold of some aircraft leading edge erosion clear tape which I'm going to apply to the front, so hopefully no more chipping. |

I used Halfords primer and Gunmetal (Rover) with Plasti-Kote lacquer. The colour is pretty close to original ('05 Gen 1 Tuono), looks darker in the flesh, the photo's a bit over exposed.
I was a little dubious about the results I'd get before I started, but I used a decent plastic tape to seal the stanchion which stopped the paint leeching under the edge (don't use masking tape) and the compression adjusters were removed, the tops masked, then re inserted. 200% improvement and I'm well happy.

Simon, I used some tape the painters at work had handy, it was like insulation tape. If you do a Google search I'm sure you'll find the right stuff to use. It peeled off easily and left a lovely crisp line.

Yep that is an extremely tidy Tuono.
If you follow badapples advice and go after a carbon can, I have a link for a new old stock Arrow carbon can. Genuine bargain - I bought a Ti version myself 2 weeks ago. |

Nice, very nice.
You should stick a set of these on your newly painted forks. http://www.reactivesuspension.com/product-detail.php?product_id=8 |

That's a belter Steve
As the others mentioned, the ceramic coating looks ace. Sort of makes you do a double take and matches the frame and swinger. |

Question everything.

Final, definite upgrade...maybe
After sending the Carbon King front 'guard back I opted for RSR Moto carbon. Have to say after seeing a Tuono with the matte finish carbon in their website's 'hall of fame', it made my mind up. They arrived this evening, absolute top quality and lovely finish. |
