To follow up on my earlier post about my less than brilliant ride out, what are your thoughts on the way forward with the screw in my tyre?
I know the 'right' solution is to just swap out the tyre but with only about 900 miles on it it's hard to bite the bullet. It hasn't lost any pressure yet and I am yet to remove it. Plug it? Plug it and fill with Puncture Safe? |

15 quid for a proper repair is cheaper than being fed through a tube for forty years

I'd be surprised if that screw is more than 12mm long. Ride to the tyre place then take the screw out yourself, if it is only 12mm and the tyre stays inflated turn around and ride away, if it goes down get it repaired.

As above
Then a vulcanized plug from the inside and possibly Puncture Seal as well for a belt and braces fix if it does go down |

Professional repair...well as professional as a tyre fitter can be. Screw is virtually central, won't be a problem.

I'm sure most on this forum have been there at some point and had 'em repaired.

If it's in the center of the tyre like yours then a repair with a mushroom plug from the inside is classed as a safe and permanent repair by insurance companies.

I would personally be getting it plugged at a garage if the tyre has plenty life in it.
Get a new tyre though if it's going to play on your mind everytime your out for a ride. Depends what kind of person you are. |

I had exactly the same thing .
My tyre had done 50 miles. I plugged it myself. Very easy. I have one of these kits. Very happy with the repair , I have even done a couple of laps at the local track and its perfect fine. To date I have plugged 3 tyres on 3 different vehicles , one of them having done 10,000 miles on the repaired tyre with no issues/loss of pressure. I think its going to come down to your own view of what is an acceptable repair. Regards Nat.

Get a tyre dealer to plug it with a Combe repair and you won't have an issue.
If you pull the nail out and the tyre doesn't go down, I would recommend that you still have a Combe repair due to once any moisture gets in to the steel belts the casing integrity will be compromised. |

What was the outcome with this one. Did the tyre deflate or was it okay?

Tyre deflated with the screw.
I bought a plugging kit from the bay . Plugged the tyre and its been 100%. Not lost a single lb in pressure. Verdict = Plug and play.
