Just after some advice, I managed to side off the bike on Tuesday during a track day at donington. It was only low speed 35 mph.
I have got the bike home on a trailer, and it is now sitting on its paddock stand. But I have been in the garage tonight and there is a small pool of oil under the bike.
I have not run the bike since the off but it was only on its side with the engine running for a couple off seconds. I am just after any ideas on where the oil is coming from.

Thanks in advance Dave.

That's a hard one to say without seeing the bike, yer best bet is to take the fairings off, check for any oil on them to see if there's been oil coming out and running down fairings maybe, then get a torch and have a good old look and see if yer can see where it's coming from.

Had a quick look tonight and there is no damage to the cases, but I did notice that the oil sight glass is full, because the bike has not been run since it was on its side would I be OK to run the engine?

I have had the fairing panels, tank and air box lid off today, and all looks OK, so I put the bike back together, and it started first press of the button, and got a load of white smoke from the exhaust.
I guess when it was on its side some oil got into the airbox.

Yes more than likely, if it sounds normal as it used to, bearing in mind they do rattle a bit which is the norm for a v4, and no fault codes service/efi light, and oil level is correct, all should be good. Smile

Yep it did sound normal, just need to get some news parts ordered, I need left hand switch, bar end, clutch lever and gear lever, and that just to get it back on the road. As for the cosmetics the tank needs painting a new left rear orange panel and a new mirror/indicator.

Where is the best place to order parts from?

Thanks Dave

Have now fitted all the new parts, but when I run the engine it still smokes, I have only ran it for about 30 seconds. The guys from Aprilia performance are coming to pick it up next week to have a look at it. I just hope that the engine is not damaged as I dread to think of the costs involved to rebuild it.
Does anyone know how much a full rebuild costs?

Micah on Af1 talked about the very same situation from a customer bike a while back.  If you lunched the crank and mains it would be making a racket when run so hopefully you haven't

This is what he posted and it might make you feel better.............

As the hot motor layed on its side the thin oil worked past the piston rings and submerged the valve stem seals, it is all inside the thermal section of the motor and air box. This is normal, and also the reason YOU ALWAYS REMOVE PLUGS AND CRANK MOTOR OVER FOR A WHILE AFTER SUCH AN EVENT TO PREVENT THE POSSIBLITY OF HYDRAULIC LOCKING. yours has obviously not hydro-locked so it will just take some time for all the oil to burn out, it is now in the exhaust, air box, ports and chambers.

I had a triumph brought to me last year....owner just tried to start it after it had been on its side for a while....damaged rods and destroyed starter drive due to hydro lock situation....you probably got real lucky.

Thanks for the advice, I do hope that this is the case. On side note, I have bought a used Akropovic road legal can and link pipe with cat, will I need to get the bike remapped for the new setup.
Thanks Dave
