well after working on a mates gen 2 tuono today i am left very disappointed by the quality of the akra's which are on it . i was trying to get them level etc but the fit to the link pipes is terrible ,they are both very loose and move around way too much .. they are standard and not been in a accident or anything so thats not the problem .. gotta say even if i was prepared to spend that sort of money on cans i deffo wouldnt buy em .. and yes the link pipes are akra's as well
sorry if you have em and this pisses you off but i just cant believe it ..

If it's not right it's not right, you have to tell it like it is really. Never had akra's to give a view but my Gen2 arrows weren't perfect, rubbed the chain and one link pipe stuck out more than the other. I had to bend the hanger to make them look even. |

I've just bought a pair that are not new, and the link pipes seem really tight to the cans.
Sure they've been fitted properly before hand? |

I have run akras on bikes several times over the years

The fit on my Akra's is really tight too, had to use some grease just to make my life a bit easier when lining them up!

Must admit that my single Akra is loose on the link pipe. Coupled with a carbon hanger it wobbles like a bastard! Sounds great though.

yeah it sounds ok like yours adam but as soon as he went down the road the things were uneven again . i remember a conversation we had about twin cans and you said you hadnt seen a gen 2 with even cans before mine and mine are delkevic's .
johnboy ive had the pipes off the bike ,all springs are strong etc ,you can put your little finger in the end of the cans and move em around dead easy . think im gonna cut some slots in the cans where they join the link pipes and put some proper clamps on em . if you got a pair of french doors fitted at home and they hung wonky and the hinges where loose you would go mad so why do people put up with this sh*te ?? yes you heard it nicky sh*tE !!

Do not cut the pipes.
Just smear a wee bit of exhaust paste (don't overdo it) onto the joint. When it hardens, it will be nice and snug. It can be chipped off anytime. Albeit not easily.

Mine are fine. And straight.
And yes they are akra's. Are they std headers? If your cutting a slot the only thing I'd consider is trying to marry it up to the tab on the OE collector. The exhaust hanger should hold them in and level anyway even if there is flex in the link pipe. Are the cans rotating in the hangers? I put mine on with a spirit level and they are spot on now. Only other thing I can think of is the collector. Is it straight to the front and rear header? As you can twist them slightly by hand. I thought mine was yet I grabbed both the pipes out of the collector and it moved a few mm anticlockwise. Cans went on straight. Only reason I moved the collector was because I was getting chain rub. Worth a look. |

[/QUOTE] Yeah I agree. You shouldn't need to paste them really. Also I do agree the carbon hangers are a little flexi. I have evo tech ally ones and the are very nice at keeping it all in place. Interestingly I've looked at a full system and that is a sloppy fit, you can move everything. I was told however that it all tightens up when it gets hot and goes loose when cool. Kind of makes sense. I'm interested to see some pics etc once you have tried the paste technique if not too much trouble. |

If enough people say a dog sh*te is a diamond the gullible will all soon be wearing it
Akra is probably the best system out there but it's still built to sell and after a few owners have pulled and pushed on it who knows how it will fit compared with when new. Remember these are competition based units designed to move slightly anyway. |
