I modded them at work and cleaned them up with a little air grinder that has an abrasive pad bit like scotch pad but harder then had seven weeks off so just managed to get my bench grinder with a buffing mop on it . It's not as good as I would like but good enough for what's seen .
Just need a forza chip 200 it's got a 100 in at the mo
its twins for me !!!!

Ive just PM'd a chap about this. What is this mod that I keep hearing about and who wants to do it for me or tell me how (get friend to) to do it? Id appreciate a tad of info please. I really need to get my arse into gear and get down to AP to speak to them. The time really has come. I think I need to sort the fuelling out as it seems a bit lumpy down low. I need to spend a bit of cash I think and give it what it needs. Only trouble is that I dont know what it needs!!!

Redrat (few posts above) does an exchange service. He has dyno charts to prove their consistency.
You can do your own, but these have been tweaked to optimise their performance.

So those two little pipes make the brainy thing think there's a twin can exhaust system on the bike? And then what?

Speak to Redrat and then Ed Forza for an eprom and then you too can be empowered.

Seriously,it does make a big difference,it felt like a bigger engine when I did mine, especially if you mod the gearing as well.

I suppose I should have said ' Breathes almost as well as a twin system'  before someone with a twin system argues the point Wink

It was done to even the odds when the Apes were racing in some formula or other years back as the later twin system models had an advantage and this redressed the balance.

The only difference being I think that the link pipe ran out at 65 or 70mm dia and used a single Akro can of matching bore.

yep the mro races series

And you are right a nice big bore link pipe ..I was looking in that pic above of how the link pipe reduces diameter ..that can't be good

Here's the blog from the guy that developed it

"Here we have an MHP modified OE manifold for an Aprilia RSVR 99 - 02 single sided systems. The enhancements enable the system to improve performance by 15 bhp across the midrange and by upto 3 bhp at the top end, but the benefit is the spread of power across the whole rev range. This manifold was used in the MRO Aprilia Challenge so this enabeled a single silencer to match the capacity of a twin Akropovic system."

There were special large bore Akra's made to utilise the mega bore original modded collectors as I recall.

These are obviously NLA.

It would be interesting to fit a large bore link pipe and custom build a large bore can to suit though.

I have to say that looking at that pic I agree with Mark, that link pipe/ can combo looks to be strangling the engine breathing something dreadful.

I don't know were my link pipe came from but it's much larger bore than that

Not the best pic to illustrate but it handy
