A while ago i put the next weight up sprkngs in my rsvr ohlins forks,i did notice they were about an inch longer than the ones that came out ,just thought the old original ones had gone weak over time and compressed.
The new ones fitted ok but I had a fight on getting the top caps screwed on as the longer springs made the damper rod sit lower in the ally tube . Any way all fitted and set preload is nearly completely backed offbut it rides fine done a few trackdays and not being rossi it handled ok Only thing that bothers me is the fork travel is reduced there is about 2 inches that doesnt get used .i have read its either cut the springs or the ally tubes ,what is the best way to go

Given that choice I'd say spacers every time. I would question why the springs were a longer length though

You don't mention your damping settings, could that be part of the issue. Were the replacement springs Genuine Ohlins? As like Ian says, I would expect them to be the same length as your originals. If your static sag is correct and the preload is backed off completely it suggests the new springs were unnecessary unless you really are riding like Rossi and are completely beyond typical static sag requirements. |

Springs are from apworkshops and are From k tech ,never had new or uprated springs before so thought longer springs were normal but a while back read a post some where and it was a bout the new springs which j think were also k tech being longer ,i put these in as i aint a small Italian and couldnt get the rider sag set correctly spoke to griff about it and he recommended next springs i have also done the rear spring ,like i said it handles fine done trackdays and never had a moment just a nagging thought tk check if they are right and if not how to sort it
