Hi guys I hope someone can help me with something.
I was at the ATM this morning, the bike was ticking over nicely, then it almost cut out but recovered quickly and ticked over nicely again. I rode for about 100 metres and the engine slowly died on me and I havent been able to get it going since! Engine turns over but wont fire. Battery is ok, plenty of petrol, no error messages on screen. What could it be? |

Sounds like it could be fuel related.
When you turn on the ignition does the fuel pump stop running after a few seconds or can you hear it run at all ?

When I turn the key it sounds the same as it always has and acts the same as it always has.
Would attempting to start the bike on diagnostic mode give me any info? I will try it later. |

Tried diagnostic mode, nothing. Checked spark plugs which are only 12 months old, they are sparking. The bike still makes the same "whirring" sound when the key is turned.
Could this ONLY be a fuel problem? |

Doesn't have to be fuel but the way if faded out made me think it might be.
You need to check the fuses/relays etc. The reason i asked about the fuel pump is the pipes have been known to come off the pump inside the tank.

Something i didn't realise at the time, when i tried starting the bike again the next day and then checked the plugs, they were dry, i dont remember seeing any fuel on them, but they ARE sparking.

The relay is on the right side of the nose. There are several relays the same so can be switched around to test
There is also a 15amp fuse that can blow if the speed sensor shorts which can happen in the wet. The same fuse is shared by other parts as well.
