Hi guys, I've been riding 28 years and have had a ZZR1100 for 19. Just got a beautiful looking RSV1000R 05 plate which died after 1 mile!! Was going on my 1st ride, stopped at the petrol station to fill up. Click click.... it won't start which I'm guessing could be the starter solenoid.
1 thing however I bumped the bike but it died after 100m as if it was out of fuel. I noticed under the seat that the wire from live on the battery wasn't connected. Would this explain the bike not running properly once bumped?.... I reconnected and tried to bump start again but couldn't. Not fit enough lol. Any help please? Thanks in advance.

The 30 amp fuses feed the ignition switch amongst other things so will 100% cause you an issue if a wire is off. Sort that first and see if there is other issues as well.

Thanks mate. Reconnected now but think the starter solenoid is dead. Best case scenario that's all that's wrong 👍
OMG my bike is LOUD lol. Had a race can and 4 into 1 on my zzr1100 that was beast loud but my Aprilia almost sucked me into 1 pipe and spat me out the other! It has Fuel road legal (bs stamped) cans no db killers. I love the noise. Think my MOT guy might raise an eyebrow or 2.

Are you sure it's not a flat battery? Sounds like you could have been running on battery only rather than alternator which will drain a battery pretty quickly. |

Definitely take the battery off for a charge and check all connections etc.
I’d also check the stator is charging correctly and brown plugs (maybe two on the 05) from the stator to Reg/Rec aren’t corroded. Would also be worth cleaning or replacing the fuel filters in the tank. Especially the tea bag style filter can gum up with old fuel and becomes a waxy horrible mess.

Thanks for the replies guys. The battery was connected to my optimate but tbh doesn't mean it was holding charge. I'm going to get it to my local garage stuff it, get it checked and running, new oil and filter while it's there. Gutted though the weather's licking up and I have some days off this week typical.
I'll definitely get them to check the fuel filter good tip.
