Hi all again,
I am after a crank case and front cylinder for a 2015 Factory LE, so was wondering what the year range would be for compatibility on these parts. Thank you

Based on the part numbers the crankcases appear unchanged from 2009-15 although Aprilia have issued a new part number for those years now so it may be that they have a modified part available with improvements. S/H you will get the original part I presume.

Thanks Spoonz,
I have a damaged carter from my 2011 RSV4 and there does seem to be different part numbers , the port jets are different for a start. The reason I asked the question was because the part number stamped on my top half of the crank case is 2A000256 and the bottom casing is 2A000302. I cant seem to find these part numbers listed on any part list, bit strange I thought. and yes on the S/H for defo. Thanks again

I forgot to add, the part numbers I listed above I can only find them on a 2015-1016 Tuono V4 1100 Factory. mine is a 2015 RSV4 Factory LE, does this suggest these crankcases are the same ?

I haven’t checked but the part number you posted looks familiar as the updated crankcase that supersedes the older part. Which might explain the modified oil jets.

Many thanks chaps,
Im a little confused, when I bought the bike I checked the vin number and engine number against the registration doc and they all match, the crankcase number listed for my 2015 model is 2A000263, I cannot find that number anywhere on the casing. The numbers I have found inside the casing are A2000256 for the top half and A000302 for the bottom half, these numbers I have only seen on the Tuono V4 1100 casing and match exactly. I spoke with John today and he tells me that this is wrong, the 1100 cannot be used on the 1000 RSV4, so I am a little confused as to what casing I need to source. The numbers on my C/H match B04530, also the numbers on my conrods match that of a V4 1100 motor. Also, am I correct in thinking that these casings are matched during manufacture, i.e, could I source a top casing and use my currant lower unit? I would really appreciate some help with clarifying this info please. Regards Max

Aprilia only list the crsnkcases for your v4 as a pair and the part number on their parts list is for both halves not the individual sections. The fact they only sell both parts together might suggest they are matched and why you’re not seeing part numbers for each bit.
As to whether there is any crossover from the 1100 crankcases and the updated v4 crankcases, I don’t know. From what I could see, the carter part number starting with B is the old part and the part starting A is the part that supersedes it. It may be that the old part can’t be used on an 1100 as well but the newer part can. I would try messaging Micah or Amauri on Apriliaforum as no one knows more about the motors than them.

crankcases are always matched as machined pairs and will be graded /coded etc for which size bearings etc to use as there are very slight variances , obviously these days with cnc machines it’s a very small tolerance.
the chances of getting another to match yours are very slim to next to impossible

Thanks again guys, I'm slowly getting less and less confused ha ha.
My compatibility checks are between the two engines range of 2015 - 2016 Okay the parts numbers stamped on both halves of the carter are listed as the same on the 1000 RSV4 and the Tuono 1100, one is a V4 - E RSV4 and the Tuono is a V4 - G stamped. Crank shaft and flywheel listed part numbers are the exact same between the two engines as are the con rods. The DIFFERENCE IS THE PISTONS/BORES, the Tuono bores and bigger not by much but never the less bigger, which makes sense. annoying that these part numbers read the same with this difference. I have a chance to buy this 1100 carter but would I need the heads from a 1100 also? I think I may already know the answer to this question but i'll ask anyways. Regards

You can fit 1100 tuono heads to a n rsv4 engine if you use the rsv4 valves ( tuono valves won’t take the revs) so I don’t see why you can’t use rsv4 heads on an 1100 block.

This is a quote from Gabro regarding 1100 heads on an rsv4 ( it was a 2012 rsv4 ) Gabro is a top Aprilia tuner/ engine builder etc
yes you can use Tuono 1100 heads fitted with Ti RSV4 intake valves, but i don't know if Tuono exhaust valve will hold-up 13k+ limiter of your RSV4. it's wise and advisable to replace valve springs with 2014 RSV4 ones as well. |

Cheers Spoonz,
My project is the other way around, mine is a 2015 RSV4 Factory LE, If I get the Tuono 1100 carter I take it my RSV4 heads will not be suitable as the Tuono bores / pistons and larger. Am I correct? I cannot seem to find a RSV4 2015 Carter anywhere, I do have a 2011 Carter with different port jets and the gear box jets. so question is will my RSV4 2015 heads go on a Tuono carter? Thanks for responding with the info tho

I would try asking Gabro as I’m sure he will know. I couldn’t say with any certainty myself. |
