I need some front brake pads for my 07 MilleR. I know it's sometimes personal preference, but what pads does anyone recommend? I put some in my old 02 mille, but can't remember what they were. Cheers.

I have Brembo pads in my '02, don't mind them.

I used Bendix MRR pads on my last bike and highly rated them, I thought they were very good.
Better than EBC HH when cold (and seemed to warm up quicker or start working better at a lower temp), damp/wet and for bite.
Had a really nice positive feel to them, I felt a lot more confident and comfortable than with the EBC HH.
Plenty of braking power too, slowing up a hefty fella on a hefty bike on track days.

I didn't think I'd notice much of anything but was quite amazed when I did.

I'm still running Brembo in the front but I recently changed the back to Sbs and think they are better.

I tried several types in my big Sv,standard ,EBC and latterly Vesrah which were the best for me.

I always felt the EBC HH's were like blocks of wood.

I love Sbs pads, tried Road sintered and loved them but I'm running the race sintered now,great on road and for trackdays.

Don't know if this is any help.

I am not sure what make the ones I got were but I went for pads that worked better when hot. They were really for track day use or racing.  But for the road it makes the brakes much more progressive. When you are going slow or riding in the wet the brakes are not as 'grabby' or as strong, which for me I found much better and much safer. But as soon as I want to haul the bike up when going fast I can and I have loads of power. Much better than normal brake pads. Don't know if this is something to help you when you do buy a set. I just put really soft brake pads in the rears but on the front I like the ones that are designed to work when hot. I just find them much more forgiving and progressive when riding on the road and much safer when going slow or in the wet.

That sounds like a good idea actually,most race pads are sold as 'not for road use' as presumably they don't bite as well when cold,when in reality that could be blessing in disguise.

Not sure where you'd stand insurance wise if you had a claim though.

I was thinking about the 'dual carbon' ? spec for the fronts when I replace them but some comp pads are for iron discs rather than stainless and they don't work in the wet.

Perhaps road pads are a wide open spec that will all work pretty much the same and comp pads are much more about disc material and weather conditions? 

Needs some thought I guess

weve used the EBC in the race bikes and never had any dramas


the important thing is to rememeber to clean the discs properly before you fit a new set of pads or your kinda lining yourself up for a fall before you start!

NEVER FIT GOLDFREN PADS!!!

I do know that the ones I had were sintered if its any help and they were about sixty squid. I also think they were race compound pads which were designed to work better when hot. I found on the road it just made the brakes more progressive but can't say every race compound sintered pads will be like that. I got them recommended to me by module road and race in Ireland when I was over there watching the North West and I am so glad that I bought them. I think if you have any good named brand sintered pads you can't go wrong. I think you pay for what you get really. I think if you spend the money of some good pads you will be happy whatever you get but might just be worth trying a set of race compound sintered pads and see how you get on with them.

I've got a set (Both calipers) of Ferodo pads for sale to suit a Gen1 (2 pads per caliper) if anyone is interested.

The discs can build a fine glazed layer on them and you can buy honeing tools to clean the crap off or use a coarse scotchbrite with brake cleaner. The braketech site shows the tools you can buy which is like a wire wheel with ceramic beads on that scrubs the surface back.

It's always worth doing but if less so when replacing pads like for like. If changing pad make or compount it pretty much essential to get any benefit.

A bit of emery clotch and a cross hatch pattern on the disc usually does the job.

Believe it or not I just had my bike serviced and my guy picked up on the brakes. The rotors were too worn and had to be replaced. It was the alloy carrier bit around the bobbins. There was heaps of side ways movement from the discs, way too much.

On his advice on discs I fitted the Brembo Serie Oro discs. Going to see if I can get them anodised in gold at some point.

The pads are Brembo SC. Will let you know how they go.

 I was advised not to go for the carbon or race pads as they are much harder and can wear your discs out. Probably alright on the brembo discs I have as I would imagine that the metal is a bit harder but would probably shred a normal set of discs.

They are supposed to have clearance LOL

The wave washers contain them slightly making them 'semi floating' some bikes 'ducs? have full floaters.

I suspect that your bobbins were worn and had elongated the surface in the carrier leading to radial play?

If you couldn't physically move the rim around on the carrier then sideways clearance shouldn't have been an issue.

Yes my carriers are worn. The bobbins have worn them away through sideways movement. I would have to replace the carriers and then put new bobbins on there. There's just no point.

I'm going to drill out my brembo oro bobbins and put race ones on there after I have anodised the carriers in gold. They will look the exact same as the HPK discs but are half the cost.

When you get a set of brembo oro discs there is no comparison to the standard discs, they are way better and I'd rather have brembo discs on there instead of the original discs
