Does anyone wear a Bell helmet on here, I am thinking of buying this one. I have always wore Arai besides my very first race helmet which was a Bell. That was a long time ago. They seem to have a resurgence. I was wondering if anyone knew about the sizes if they are similar to Arai. I personally don't think the Arais are good as they used to be, and there's a lot of choice now. |

I have a Bell MX5 carbon which is a nice lid,not as plush as Arai but fit wise it is very similar, only down side is it is noisier than some.
J&S do visors for them and my genuine Bell dark tint race only job was £30 delivered which is a damn site cheaper than Arai. |

Hi simonb, thanks for the feedback. I have heard they are a bit noisy, but for that price with £174 off I think I will give it a go,plus you get a helmet bag with it.
I borrowed my brother's new Arai Quantum and I preferred my old Quantum F. Also the visors prices are ridiculous like you say. As far as the safety rating it up there with the Arai. |

Not sure if you've got your heart set on a Dunlop rep, but you could get the newer version of the star for similar money.

Bought a bell mx5 wore it 5 days before I had my big crash ha ha
But Most comfortable helmet I have ever worn except it was noisey as hell, need Allen keys to swap out the visor!! And I am sure it had a smaller visor opening as my neck ached like crazy as it seemed to block my view and needed to crank my neck more |

I really like them.look very classy imo.
Tried a few on at my local bike shop and found them a very tight fit compared to hjc shark and shoei..but then i always struggled to get a good fit with arai too. Is there anywere local you can try one on? |

Haha crash tested by Red, the visor only take seconds to change on this one, no tools needed Mark, and my Arai isn't that quiet.
The other is cheaper but I don't like the shape of the back of it Mitch. BIG UN thats a good idea I think I will go and try one before buying, also I have heard they can be on the small side. I bought a pair of Gaerne boots put on jumped on the bike and they were alright till I had to stand or walk in them, I will see if can get them stretched but I doubt they give much. I might have to sell them and buy a size up. The Sidis were fine in the same size, so trying one is good advice. |

Might be worth a trip down to Helmet City in West Bay to try for size. Not too far from Winchester. Last time I was in there they had Bell on display.
I was tempted by them but I don't seem to have a Bell shaped head.....errr. |

What size are you? There's someone selling a new one in Large with another £100 off!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282760258159 I'm not sure what model year that design is but if it's a couple of years old you just need to factor in that the discount is really only paying for the 30% of its useful life that has been lost since manufacture. |

Thanks for that Legend, but unfortunately I am a small and I would have considered it.
By the way how is the battery holding up now. I didnt start the bike for two months and the status indicator was still showing 100%, but the alarm is never on. So I am happy with the lithium, what I like about it best the speed it charges. |

a mate of mine as one of these not sure what model it is but it's a nice lid, I've tried it on and while it's not as plush or comfortable as my Arias it is very light and seems very well made, the best feature is the visor, his came with a Transitions visor the goes dark and light depending on conditions so negating the need to run a tint and risk a pull from old bill. As I said not sure what model it is but it may be worth hunting round for one with the photochromic visor I'm pretty sure he got it at J&S and they included the visor.

yea thats why i like the drop down tints now in new helmets.
doesnt look as good as a dark tint race visor imo, but close enough without having to carry a clear with you. i really liked my shark speed r foggy rep.great helmet despite foggy being a turnip brain to most folk lol.

the photochromic visor isn't a drop down internal one it's a normal visor that reacts to sunlight ( same as the lens in transitions glasses) it goes dark in sunlight and clear in lower light conditions, so you get the look and performance of a race tint but without the need to switch to a clear when it gets dark, best of both worlds.
