My RSV is going to be in trouble, over 2 years with half a tank and no stabiliser. There was one Facebook that had not run for nearly 3 years, and all the injectors and throttle bodies blocked, the pump works and the filter is new.
I will see what I can do with it 😬

Don't fret, mine was left with an emptied tank for over 3 years.

Put a splash of fuel and a battery in it and after a couple of turns it fired up and ran like a champ

Also I'll be 68 by then and I'm still recovering from a triple bypass op and not started riding again yet,I can see me doing more local outings next year though (covid permitting).

I quite fancy joining MrMiller at one of Whitam's race schools at Anglesey if he's still doing them

I shall continue watching this with interest though Thumbs Up

Hi IanG, I think you will be surprised how it comes back to you, I had 33 years off track abd 28 years of bikes. Passed my test in 2012 bought the Spon 2015. I went into the inters after lunchtime i was back to it, slower than I was when I was racing.
It felt like I was a pillion 😁. You are doing things deep from your memory somewhere. I am 61 this year, and Twinfan (Paul) had his chest opened up, it was still healing when he came to Donny to watch me. He was supposed to be going to Spain in October. He's the same age as you.
I must admit I was nervous, but I and thinking much like you when I went on my first trackday in 2018,  this one in May will be my fourth, the good thing about FE one that I went to was timed, which makes it a lot safer. I was shocked when me and Colin was walking back after the briefing and we felt quite young at 59 and 60. Quite a mature bunch with FE which made it enjoyable.
I hope you can make it with us soon, and a speedy recovery ✌️ 👍

Biking in general is an older man's game really. Due to money. Was thinking it the other day when we passed a group of bikes parked outside a cafe. My wife asked me if they were a group of friends we have and I said no chance because they're all new bikes. Don't know anyone around my age with anything fancy like that. One of the lads has a 2016 390 duke but really it's big bang R1 the newest. Back to a few old CBR600fs, hornets and  SVs. My dad had decent bikes straight out of uni, as well as a Porsche 911. It's not really the same these days. Think his first job out of uni paid more than mine did and that's ignoring inflation.

Anyway, long story short I don't think 60 is old for trackdays. 75 would be where I'd consider the older bloke in the paddock to be. Starting off with track days at 32 I've been on the younger side but it really makes no difference when you're there as common interest seems to unite everyone. Never had a problem going to days on my own because you always get talking to a few people when you're there.

Yeah, friendly places to be sure, but even last time out it got boring circulating by myself, the mate I'd gone with was having bike problems and got left way behind and most of the others in our novice group would have been high inters/low expert at most days,so once I'd relaxed a bit I just toured round and enjoyed the view.

Some of the bikes there would have been at home in the WSB paddock, even Hicky and Michael Laverty couldn't keep up with some of their students on the semi stock bikes they were riding.

The only bike I had a bit of combat with was a girl on a race kitted R6 but she soon got bored and pulled away gradually and went off to play with hubby further up the field as I didn't fancy pushing harder in the heat.

I found when we were packing up that she'd stayed behind me for ages on the 3rd day happy enough with my pace before overtaking and trying to tow me around a bit quicker which was nice.

Thinking back I know I could have gone much quicker which would have been nice but I realised I don't bounce as well as I used to

Finally a tip from Hicky " You should be scared going into every corner,"  as I told him " Don't worry,I must be world class then"LOL
