    Posted: 26 Sep 2012 at 20:56
Hi, I recently bought a second hand arrow exhaust and eprom chip from ebay. The chip is model 11013ME. I believe the chip is designed for the Mille 01-03.
I have a Tuono 05, I have fitted the exhaust with no issues and the bike runs better. I was thinking about fitting the chip, but I'm not sure if it is suitable for an 05 Tuono.

Does anyone on here know about the chips and whether there is anything to be gained from the arrow chip compared to stock? I did read that the arrow chip is a de-restricted version of the 01-03 Mille chip, but I haven't found anything information on the Tuono ECU/EPROM.

I am assuming that an 03 Mille ECU is the same as an 03 Tuono ECU, but are there any differences with the Tuono 04-06 (Gen1).

Thanks for your time.

Matt

Hi Matt,

The Arrow chip you have is a clone of the RP58 "standard RSV / Tuono Chip
Exhausts are very good chips not so IMO

If you want a very good chip I create my own custom Eproms that do improve things quite a lot
They are a lot different to the standard chips.

See my post at the top of the general tab on the forum

PM me with your bike year and mods if you want a custom chip

Cheers Ed

Hi Ed

I have a Tuono 2005, it has an arrow titanium exhaust can, but standard down pipes. I have a standard air box, but with a K&N filter.

As I said, I bought the exhaust on ebay, the guy said it was taken from a Mille, it's a straight through can, no baffles, however, it is a bit shorter than the standard can, I could not find a model number on it. I also looked on the arrow website + google and couldn't find it, so I'm not convinced that it is definitely designed for a Mille/Tuono. There are many different exhausts out there, especially on ebay, if the can is straight through, I can't really see that there would be a big difference, but I guess it's related to the diameter of the bore and overall length.

So, when you say that you can design a chip based on my mods, I guess that you design the chip around a particular exhaust setup, without baffles for example, but then you assume that the mapping will also be suitable for any free flowing exhaust?

I'm quite happy to buy one of your chips, i've seen your advertisement on ebay, it is a very reasonable price that you are asking.

I do have a question for you regarding the cold start function on the tuono. When the bike is cold, I usually pull the cold start wheel all the way around, when the bike starts it might be at around 4000rpm, I then adjust the wheel again to drop the rpm below 2000rpm, and then once it's warmed up I turn off the cold start completely. However, I noticed that when the bike is warm, if I turn the cold start wheel back on, to the full-on position, the revs will go up to 6000rpm, is this normal? or is it not setup correctly.

PM me about paying for the chip etc, I have paypal.

Cheers
Matt

If you posted a picture up of the exhaust can, I could tell you if its a genuine Arrow item or an after market job that someone has put a sticker on to...

Hi

Cold start lever is normal
All it really does is open the throttle ever so slightly in a locked position.

so in effect when you pull it open when bike is warm it will increase the RPM

Hope that helps

The packaging looks also to have been cut down as arrow cans come in a fully formed box to protect both ends of the can

Or maybe its the wrong box

Cheers guys, I was a bit worried that the RPM on the cold start was too high.

This is a better pic of my exhaust, it is shorter than the standard arrow, it didn't come in the original box

This a pic of an arrow exhaust that is supposed to be for a tuono

I Forgot to say that it does have a tag on it, BSA193A-T3/199, I looked on google and it is to do with the noise emmision laws etc, I may have missed a '0' off the end when I wrote it down.

I can't see any other manufacturer markings or anything, but I'm happy with the exhaust, it's loud, but not ridiculously loud, the bike also passed the M.O.T with it on, which is good...

I've bought one of Ed's chips, I'll probably get it on the dyno at some point!

Hi Guys

Today I decided to fit the chip that I bought from Ed.

I took a trip down to Maplins first, I got myself a grounding strap to be on the safe side £7.99, and I managed to get a chip extractor for £2.39, which is much better than using 2 screw drivers, as you could easily apply too much force to one side and bend the pins on the chip that you are extracting. I bought a small razor blade knife for £3 to cut away any glue holding the stock chip in. I also bought some glue for £5,99 which is suitable for pcb's, I thought it would be a good idea to put a blob of glue at either side of the chip to stop it coming loose under vibration, unlikely, but the manufacturer does it, so why not.

I removed the ECU, which was very easy, it soon became clear that this ECU had been removed/taken apart before as the seal was broken. So, I took the lid off and found that it already had a replacement chip with a sticker which says 'EUROKA'.

I have googled this, but I haven't found any information on it.

I decided to go ahead and fit Ed's chip and I have to say that it is fantastic, the power delivery is much smoother and the bike is much more responsive, it even sounds crisper when blipping the throttle from tick-over. I'm very impressed, thanks Ed!!!

Here is a pick of my ECU and the tools I bought.

Regards
Matt
