Hi Guys,
a friend just bought a 2017 Cbr1000rr and is looking for exhausts and we came to the conclusion that even a slip on is pushing the noise barrier but we also came across this. Designed to fit onto OE collector or Akrapovic Race Headers. Not Road Legal Is too loud for UK trackdays! (113dB, on stock headers no baffle available) so if it's too loud for track days and it's not road legal whats it for? £630 quid for something to put on your mantelpiece? i just find the whole thing to be strange. |

No idea, although Jerez is a MotoGp track and well out in the countryside away from any neighbours. As a contrast Austria is apparently pretty much a no go area for trackdays, the Viennese head off towards Slovakia. People near Salzburg in the north have a couple of tracks but I've no idea of noise regs |

I think all Spanish tracks are free from noise testing. There could be exceptions but I don't know what they are. I read a long bit on I think moto forum about noise limits in the UK. Think much of it came around when initially tracks were used only a few days a year for races and race practice days. When to get on track you had to race. Now with track days running most days of the week throughout the season the number of noisy days on track went well above the previous amount. Those living in nearby villages went from the occasional event being heard to having almost daily noise. So since track days noise has started to be more and more of an issue and something that is often negotiated between local communities and track owners. You hear about people moving in to a village only to complain about the historic race circuit but I think that's in the minority really. It happened at Croft but I think everyone in the village thought that family were a bunch of c**ts, hence why they moved out soon after receiving their compensation from Croft circuit. But there's still a compromise to be made between the circuit and the local community. When I was at Parcmotor last year I actually wished they had 105dB limits at some points. Being parked up in pit garages just off the start straight and hearing Ducatis with full race systems and ex BSB superbikes flying by at wide open throttle I was finding after 3 days I was starting to get headaches from it all. To begin with it was a beautiful noise but it got old fairly quickly. Imagine watching a GP or BSB race trackside, except instead of a 40 minute race it's about 8 hours ha. At least at tracks like Cadwell you're parked up in the paddock away from the front straight.

It's called 'growing up' I prefer a quiet (ish) bike anyway. I'm probably the only one on here running a Tuono on standard cans, now just got to quieten down the agricultural Rotax engine. Track bike runs an Evo can though which is a source of worry around noise meters, although it passed Cadwell checks easily I agree with the previous comment about very noisy current superbikes, after 3 days in the sun at Jerez I was ready to get as far away from bikes as possible. I found ice cold Spanish beer the ideal distraction |

yea ill be honest i wear my plugs at the track all day, or some noise canceling bose earbuds if im on my own, i get that noise is annoying, what i don't fully get is racing is racing and racing makes noise, why would you move near a race track and complain about the noise. its like complaining that water is wet.
i can only see it getting stricter with what im reading online.

I'm sure it will but one benefit of us all going electric EV's is that eventually racetracks will no longer have noise problems.

It's not only racetracks, airports are suffering as well. Even smaller fields that mostly fly unpowered types are feeling the effects. My local gliding club had a massive anti movement against it in the past, everything from noise? altering the countryside, cutting down an oak tree and then complaints about spying through peoples bedroom windows and disturbing the ramblers whilst ridge running. I can say the majestic Oak did fall after a night of high winds, unconfirmed rumours whispered that it was tickled by a chain saw during the night but hey, someone would have fixated on it during landing sooner or later. As for looking in peoples bedroom windows as I shot past at 50knts with wingtips feet from the rocks I can honestly say I had other things on my mind. And as for those f*kcing ramblers, anti anything that doesn't walk and wear silly hats These days it's all about a vocal minority shouting they want their 'rights' . Ty Croes on Anglesey is being badly shackled by noise regs to the extent they seldom use the Coastal configuration due to someone moving in nearby and complaining about the noise. Which is doubly daft as just down the road is the UK's fast jet training base with Hawks taking off and landing constantly. Bloody minorities have far too much say these days |

It seems that Hampshire police may be trialing noise pollution cameras in the near future. Is this going to spell the end for vee twin riders?

Arsehole ramblers complaining, they cause more damage to the country side with foot damage and all the crap they leave behind plus driving miles to get to where they want to walk from and the tight bastards rarely spend any money in the area they are walking in by taking packed lunches full of sweaty cheese sandwiches.

Are there any mag members in the group, I would like to find out what their stance on the decision to implement noise level cameras is. Surely the police would have to publish the location of said cameras in much the same way they do with speed cameras.

??? Does that still happen? Believe me,Brunstrum disproved the need to comply with that theory years ago Most
speed cameras are mobile these days? How could that even possibly
work? Even in the past when this did happen occasionally the timings
were so vague and badly publicized as to be totally useless anyway. The
only way this wouldn't happen would be if the technology was so
exorbitantly expensive it was out of reach of most funding deprived
forces ( sorry Police services) Living in
a place where noisy bikes and irresponsible riding are an epidemic
during summer w/ends I can see even our pretty laid back current Chief
Constable declining a few tasers in favour of anti noise kits to pacify
the local population. I like a nice fruity
exhaust note as much as anyone in the appropriate environment, just not
when touted by a bunch of irresponsible wannabees on a day trip to
decent roads trying to act out their TT fantasy's. Exit Grumpy Old Fart |
