Bought this earlier in the year thinking I would tidy it up and use it on the road every now and then but, truth be told, I never seem to have the time spare so it's been sat in the workshop ever since and gone nowhere. When I got it there was a load of non-standard, cheapo bling stuff on it that I have replaced with OEM stuff. Ignition, fuel cap and seat release are all now on one key (I have 3 of them though!) and I replaced every fastener, nut and bolt with OEM from front to back. Bar end weights, grips, levers and the exhaust end can are now all original too. There's even got an Aprilia tool kit to go with it and I'm pretty sure that I can rustle up an original owners manual for it too. Freshly MOT'd this morning, which it passed with no advisories, and showing 36584 miles. MOT history shows the last one was done in Spetember 2014 when it showed 36259 miles, so it's not done much in the last couple of years. 2013 MOT was at 28057 and the one in 2012 showed 22650. It's in fine fettle mechanically..........starts on the button and runs brilliantly. Good chain and sprockets and Dunlop RoadSmartII tyres have plenty of life left in them. Pictures flatter it a little 'cos it's been painted at some point and when you look real close there are bits here and there that aren't great......orange peel on the nose fairing for example and part of the 'Racing' decal on the right side fairing has come away, bringing a little paint off with it. All the graphics are (sadly) lacquered over otherwise I'd have pulled them off already as they're not to my taste! I'm not far from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, about 20 minutes north of Lincoln. Been looking on the bay and can't find one this cheap so grab a bargain..................£1650 Cheers, Jon |

Was curious to know what happened to the one that came with the Tuono I bought from Rotherham, because the guy I bought it from was good enough to sell it from his house after I bought bike from him, because I couldn't ride it home with it on back seat 175 miles and thought it a funny coincidence if it happened to be same one, that's all

I forgot to add that the bike should sell. For that money, it's a bargain, and you've described and it photographed it really well. Good luck selling it.

Given how heavy the standard can is, I imagine the postage cost made up for the ultra cheap selling price |

Hello mate, great you've sold it, hope all goes well
Also hope you're staying in the Ape family though and not leaving us? If you are or not -still stay in touch. Even for the banter! I often wonder what happened to some of our older more prolific posters who... Just disappeared -but their birthdays are forever notified at the bottom of the "forum home" page each year... Like a silent sentinel asteroid satellite in an elliptical orbit... (Readers voice) "wooOOooh!" Did the werewolves or vampires get them? "Oooh" Maybe a minor, localized Zombie outbreak? "Arghhh" Or a bike tour through the "hills have eyes" and an inevitable cannibal consumption? "Yikes" Were they abducted by aliens? Then made into hybrids who look like slim versions of Phil Jupitus? "My god nooOOOoo" Or did they.... *shudders* buy an il4 h... hh.... Honda.... arhghhh it burns I'm melting! "Spooky, aint it?!!" rsvr.net. Best bike forum ever. Stick around whatever bud! Cheers ... Mwuhuhahuh. MWUHUHUHUHUHUHAAAAaaaa (repeat to fade) |

Not disappearing
Still got the Tuono tack bike and another Tuono in bits that I may eventually find the time to put back together Going on holiday on Tuesday for a couple of weeks but then going to have a sort through the workshop and see what goodies I can rustle up for sale. Caterham racing ain't cheap so the funds would help ................I know there's a set of AP rear sets, Ohlins rear shock and steering damper, Gen 2 'Ohlins' wheels, Gen 2 Showa radial forks complete with calipers and master cylinder. Just got to figure out what they're all worth before sticking a post on here listing them ;-) |
