Someone on here is running a 200 rear just can't remember who, most tyres run + or - a few mm, I run 180/60 on gen 1 with 520 chain and it just touches.

Am guessing looking as he said race scrubs it's not for looks.
Don't do itl handle like a wheel barrow with a flat tyre get and that's were rsvs are good on track for handling. It won't look any better than a 190

sorryi didnt really make myself clear in the original post as i hate typing , i was looking for tyres yesterday which i got ( pilot 3s ) and i saw the price of the top end tyres which got me thinking of what was available in the used road legal track tyres ( supercorsas , racetec and the like ) and i noticed that they only seemed to be 180 or 200, which made me ask has anyone got the 200 on a gen 2 for either fast road or occasional track use. just curious really

I use a 200/55 on my Gen 1 with a 525 chain, you may need a longer chain to pull it back in the swingarm, no side clearance issues though. No handling issues steers all good, gets around Mallory in 55/56 seconds.

I don't get why you would what to put a 200 rear on a 130bhp bike there's no need I bet if you put a 190 60 or 180 60 on it you would go quicker
The contact patch for a 220bhp bike needs it I struggled getting a 190 60 on my gen 1 will it did not happen

Just coz you pull it back doesn't give you more clearance right and left |

Hi lads , it's me thats running the 200 tyre. I run a Metezler K2 200/55/17 and I love it . The bike is so stable also you can lift the front cranked over. I had a 190 Perelli SP when I bought it and I thought they were sh*t, I have ridden on SCs but that is a track tyre like the K2. There's no clearance issues but it does lift the the back up by nearly 20-25mm so you might want to take the the ride height on the shock. I had to do that with mine because it started to tankslap. Now I have adjusted the Maxton shock to it aswell but it don't go as small as the oem Ohlins 310mm, the Maxton minium length is 315 but it's OK now ,bear in mind it will turn very quick because the tyre height. I will never go back to a 190. And I didn't do it for looks either ,I wanted to put the power on earlier and have more grip,I had it of the ride side from new in 20 mins on the road it gives you that much confidence .Just need to wind the steering damper up as it will lift the wheel on it side so it shakes it head . It's bollocks that it won't handle , M9rko had it before me when he had a gen and also helped me with the first setup on the Ohlins . But like he said you really have to do to suit you. Backing a bit of ride height of will help.
By the way for you who are coming to the Trackday I will post the latest details on the trackday post, it would help to know how many of us is coming so I will try to get a garage for us.

you can see a picture of it on the bike on the trackday post and you can see how taller the tyre is, I can't get my feet flat on the ground like I used to . It's a noticeable difference .

if you put that much power cranked off to make the front lift you would high side no matter what side tyre you had on

Yes you can lift the front cranked over, had it happen a few times myself, makes your arse twitch when your not expecting it though.

My cranked over must be different to yours then. Because cranked over to me is elbow down on floor right to edge of tyre
You know your self if you got that much force to the edge grip of any rear it's not going to end well at all. I certainly don't think it's the 200 tyre doing it even if that is true That to me is losing the front and saving it on your elbow and knee type of skill

the big heavy tyre means a lot of power is lost. It's the latest trend like cars, to have ridiculous tyres on your bike. The bigger the tyres the slower a bike will turn, is one of the old rules of bike racing.

Yep, Remember Aprilia put a 180 on the Gen1 'R' to make it turn and handle better than the standard bike that was fitted with a 190. |
