So I was driving yesterday and after about 15 minutes it just stopped, picked itself up for a few seconds and stopped again. When I turn the key all lights go on and the dash too, yet the engine didn't start. starter motor (?) doesn't even turn over, I just hear the fuel pump going.
Sometimes it does start though, sporadically. after that it just shuts off again. It must be something electrical right? battery and the contacts are okay. The roadside service guy was thinking about a sensor for the rpm that could be f**ked. Anyone has experience with this? I really hope I can fix it myself this time since I have spent more than I wanted already last year. |

Hi
You try bridging the starter solenoid on the right hand side under the panel by seat? Usual stuff of check fuses etc I want to say maybe immobiliser issue also as they can fail and be bypassed or replaced. Sometimes the wire off the pick up comes off! Tbf Spoonz is one of the more knowledgeable chaps here and I’m sure will be along shortly to assist

The fuses are all okay. I did find out that I have a fall sensor, and that the sensor was sitting loose next to my battery. So it could be a simple f**kup as that (Hopefully) I did already drain the battery though, but a new one will arrive tomorrow so I can test that then. Could also be the immobiliser, I will check that out too!
And I don't want to be rude but I have no idea what you are saying in the first sentence. Could you explain that one to me? Cheers

When you install the battery follow the correct procedure r you're going to knacker the new one.
1. Disconnect the old one key OUT of the ignition. 2. New battery in. 3. Key on but don't start set clock, shift light or just wait 30 seconds. 4. Key off. 5. Key on and start. This stops the bike going into a weird battery drain mode. Hopefully it will be ok with a fresh battery and the tip over sensor correctly seated good luck.

Ok, so I installed the new battery the way badapple described (again thanks for the grille btw!) and put the fall sensor in the right position. So far so good! Test drive was okay, I’ll be doing a longer one tomorrow. If it fails again i’ll check out the rest.

Sounds like the tip over sensor might have been your problem. If it was loose that would cause an intermittent problem as it moved and rocked about. Then you killed your battery trying? Fingers crossed
